Q:How many squares are tiles?
According to the size of the tile and the number of packages
Q:How did the tiles come out?
1, glazed tiles Glazed tiles are the most common brick tiles in decoration, and are widely used in wall and floor decoration due to their rich color patterns and strong antifouling ability. Glazed tiles are the bricks of the brick surface treated by glazed tiles, according to the different glossy glazed tiles and matte glazed tiles. According to the different raw materials are divided into: ceramic glazed tiles, made from clay, high water absorption, the general strength is relatively low, the main feature is the back of the red; porcelain glazed tiles, made of porcelain, The lower the general strength is relatively high, the main feature is the back of the gray.
Q:how long do you have to wait before walking on new tile?
You really shouldn't walk on it until you install the grout and it is dry. You will have to walk on it a little while you are grouting it but wait until it's dry to have regular traffic on the tile. Usually it's good the next day after grouting. Note: Check the tiles after you motor them down for a hollow sound when tapped on. If you have any tiles that sound hollow remove them and then reinstall them because they will crack if you don't
Q:Tiles or carpet ?Family with 3 kids under 4.?
If you are looking for the easiest to maintain, definitely tile. Being a living room, and having young kids, I would assume they play there, so carpet would be much kinder to falls that the little-ones will have. You can always have both, get tile and place an area rug over it, you can get the rug cleaned at a local dry cleaners or just get a cheap one that you can toss when the kids get older.
Q:My tile constantly cracks?
.If your home was recently built, it may still be settling. Homes, especially those built on fill often take several years to settle. The fact it happened in both the basement and the third floor makes me suspect this is the case. Keep in mind that concrete will expand and contract with temperature changes. If you live in the northeast the rapid temperature changes we've been experiencing could also have something to do with it. As far as happening ever again, the best policy is to wait and see. Wish I had an easy fix for you. Good Luck.
Q:Tile Expert?
Well, obviously the tile man was not aware that there are tiles now on the market that don't have to have grout... In fact, they now make tiles that have a flat edge and are glazed right to the edge. These tiles can be glued with a special glue and need no grout whatsoever as they touch one another. It makes for a very nice finish! I've recently done it in a kitchen with 13 x 13 pure white tiles on a looks great!
Q:What is the best material to use for a tile shower?
The tile isn't as important as what the tiles are mounted to. Make sure you use material specific for wet areas. as for which one to use, it would depend on which one you like, and can afford. I like the looks of bigger tiles, but would much rather install smaller tiles. Bigger tiles can be a pain when it comes to making difficult cuts.
Q:Do you think that large, 12X12 tile is just a fad, and in 10 years it will look dated?
People have been using tile that size for centuries, so it's not a fad. Whether or not it will look like one in 10 years is going to depend on the colour of the tile and the way it was used.
Q:How many 18x18 tiles equal 170 square feet?
Your 1 st 2 answers are wrong or partly wrong. 18x18 tile is 324 square inches, divide by 144 ( 1 s/f) and you get 2.25 s/f per tile. Divide that into the 15x11 area(which is 165 s/f) You get 73.33 tiles or a bare minimum of 74 tile. I would most definitely get 7/10 extra tile to cover scrapes and cuts. You may need more or less depending on your layout and pattern you put in ( if any). Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:Slate tiling, grouting and sealing.?
Ideally you could have sealed your slate before setting (as long as you kept the sealer off the edges of the tiles). This would have made thinset and grout clean-up much easier. You really need to get all the thinset off your tiles. At this point you might need some hot water, a scrungy pad and some elbow grease. If that doesn't do it then you'll need to use a cleaning solution - maybe they have something where you bought the slate (make sure it's safe for natural stone). So after the tiles are thinset free, you can seal - again only the tops of the tile. If sealer gets down the sides your grout will not grab hold as well. Apply enough sealer to coat, but avoid puddling. You can grout after 2 hrs - but you can wait longer if you like. I would seal your grout after it dries as well. Hope this helped... Rich
