- you need to remove the old grout on the surface and re apply new grout to fix the problem, you can even get grout that is tinted to the colour that you like .
- Q: I am making a movie for school and i need to hang things from our ceiling to the ground. The problem is is that the ceiling is an acoustic tile and i‘m not sure if it will hold enough. (This is one of the older acoustic tiles with all of the holes in them.
- If it's a suspended ceiling you're talking about, with the tiles held in metal framing, you can buy special little hooks that clip on to the metal framework. You should be able to get them at Home Depot, and probably office supply stores. You can also simply use a piece of thin wire and tie that around the metal frame, squashing it in a little so the tile sits flush again. If whatever you're hanging is too heavy for that metal framework, you have to take out a tile and find something higher in the ceiling that's sturdier. The ceilings are usually suspended from pretty strong wire. Find where that wire or other support is and you know where the strong point of the suspended part is. If it's acoustic tiles over a solid surface, you have to find a structural part inside the ceiling. A stud finder will come in handy for that but unfortunately you'll have to make a hole in the tiled surface to hang anything.
- Q: Following on from my previous question about tiles... I had asked if it's better to remove them or tile over the top. At that time, I thought they were bedded in the same stuff as the bathroom tiles were upstairs which was a very fine and compacted sandy stuff that was not set.However, after trying to remove a couple of the mosaic floor tiles in the kitchen, it seems they are bedded in the actual concrete floor itself !!! and instead of being able to remove them, it just chips the tile and breaks off the surface somewhat. - You may be able to do it as the last guy answered, but I would never guarantee the results in the long run. The proper way is to chip up all the old tile and start from scratch.
- Q: the tiles are laid down using thinset cement. Mastic not used.
- Try using a putty knife,holding it flat on the ground and working it gently under and around the edges of the tile,applying very little pressure upward,the tile should snap off in one piece.

- Rounding the numbers is 3' x 7', 5' x 7', and 3' x 7' or 14 square feet + 35 + 14 = 63' total surface area. or 756 inches total suface area.
- Q: We want to put the same sticky tile over the existing tile just stagger them. Will that be unstable or should we remove the old ones...which seems like work lol
- As long as the existing tile is not cracked, has missing chips, free from grease and dirt and has been vacuumed you won't have a problem putting new tile over it. Also you want to make sure the existing tile is not loose in spots. Yeah, a few new tiles might lose their grip and come up.....in about forty years. We did the same in 1974. I am now in the process of a remodel and a few of them came loose. Must have been a bad batch of tiles! Lol. You'll be fine.
