Q:Hi,The felt (or whatever it is made of) ceiling in my car is falling down. I have scraped most of the residual glue off the ceiling made out of fiberglass and what I can off of the carpet/felt part. I've tried a couple of different types of two sided tape and can't get it to stick. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance...
There is a headliner repair spray available at auto parts store. You spray it on the ceiling and the material your are trying to reattach, let it tack up, and then press into place. Works ok unless there is too much residual insulation on the ceiling.
Q:I live in the basement and the tiles in my drop ceiling are so annoying there the normal whatever material they are and i have dark carpeting and i guess our house sucks because I have to vacuum all the time because ill look down and there will be white specks all over the floor which im guessing is coming from the tiles from when people walk upstairs. So i want to replace them with a material that wont do that.
Don't know about plastic, but there are plastic wrapped & melamine coated tiles which are used in hospital OR.s & labs since they are non porous & can be scrubbed. Some have gaskets along the edges which seal them to the grid to seal out dust. Probably not something from a home center but a big builder's supplier might special order them. Guessing a few bucks more than regular fiber lay in tiles. Best regards

Almost, look at personal use
Q:I read that fiberglass insulation that has a backing sheet should have the backing sheet toward the heated space. The insulation in the basement ceiling has the backing sheet toward the inside of the basement not the bottom of the floor above. Does this trap moisture and cause a lot of harm or does it just make the insulation less effective? Do I need to take it all down and start with new insulation? Should I just add a new layer over the top what is there?
Insulation in a finished basement ceiling is for noise, rather than thermal. Ideally, it will not have a vapor barrier, which is what the paper is. You should use unfaced batts, and use retainers to keep it in place. You can leave it how you have it, however, as long as there isn't a huge difference between the temps of the basement and the upstairs. If the area is not finished or heated, such as a crawlspace, there is a very real possibility that moisture could collect in the insulation, leading to mold issues. The insulation in that scenario MUST be installed with the vapor barrier up. That is NOT just for walls. Hope this helps.
Q:Write a writing for the future
Look at some science fiction may help but do not look addicted
Q:We had our carpets removed a while ago and installed laminate flooring instead. As a result, the house is not as warm as it used to be.Will it help if I add R13 insulation in the basement ceiling ? Will it keep the living room floor (which is just above the basement) warmer ?On the same manner, will adding another layer of insulation to the attic help in the winter and summer as well ?As for the mositure barrier paper, if I understand correctly, it should be facing up both cases, right ?
A vapor barrier always will go the heated side. But in you situation, just use unfaced insualtion in both applications. DO NOT use any plastic to cover anything. This will only trap moisture.
