Q: we build new home last year and now want to lay ceramic floor tiles. but the problem is our floor have cracks (one vertical crack line abiut 8 feet long). how we remove/repair these cracks so that after laying ceramic tiles no danger of these cracks coming again
If you are talking about ground floor.Underneath your floor below PCC whatever material your contractor used has loosen. No matter how many time you fix the floor. The problem will return. It will be like curved floor.Get hold of the contractor and tell him to fix the problem.
Q: Solid wood composite floor with enhanced floor than, which is good?
Solid wood flooring to better point but to pay attention to both the formaldehyde content and free formaldehyde emission is up to standard
Q: I asked this question earlier, but only got one reply..so I deleted it and decided to ask again. Ok, my husband and I bought a nightclub a year ago. This place belonged to my uncle and he had a painted concrete floor as a dance floor and of course we still do. It use to be a car repair place and a cattle butcher place in the past, so the concrete is old, and has oil on it so the paint comes up not very long after you paint it. So..what are my options? Something relatively cheap to make the dance floor more inviting? I would love to know what to use to make it easier on the legs and easier to clean. Thank you!
A good dance floor has a little give in it, a little flex. Just one inch off the concrete would do. Depending on how thick the the timber floor is would determine how far apart you have the timber underneath to support the wooden floor. If you have a comfortable floor to dance on then I'm sure it would pay for itself in no time.
Q: What are the pros and cons of painting my concrete basement floor. Will it harm the floor? We never have any water problems. I just want a clean sweepable surface.
Pros: okorder if you are located near Edmonton.
Q: I was attempting to replace my linoleum floor, I discovered a black tar adhesive under the old Linoleum, When I tried to pull the old Linoleum up, The floor started to splinter!, There seems to be a top thin layer of wood over the sub-flooring?, This is coming up with the Linoleum, Should I just leave the old Linoleum like it is and put the new linoleum over it?, Or should I go thru hell and high water and replace the entire floor???
You'll get a better result if you remove as much of the underlayment you can. Whatever floor you decide to put on, be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions to put the new one on.
Q: I have an old house and when we pulled up the 3 layers of tiles the concrete is black. This is from the stuff they used way back when to lay tile. In my research I have found all kinds of stuff on how to paint new cement. Can I just paint or stain it after I clean the floor. Or do I have to get all the black stuff off the floor first.
That black stuff is the glue/rubber cement. You can paint over it but you will have the texture of the glue to deal with. You can go to your local equipment rental store (united/sunbelt/nations rent) and get a floor sander with a cement scrubber pad to clean all this off and then paint it and it will be like new after you put the sealer on it.
Q: I am installing vinyal floor tiles in the kitchen. I have self stick type tiles. My question is can I use tile adhesive with this type of tile and will it provide better adhesion.
Clean the floor good first, get a gallon of Armstrong Latex Floor Primer and apply as directed, either roller or brush, then use Armstrong Floor Tile Adhesive and apply with a small notched trowel (look on can for exact size), (states on can that it can be used as a primer prior to installing self adhesive tile). I've laid dozens of floors worth of self adhesive tiles for the Realtors I work for for use in their rental properties. I tried just laying the tiles over old ones, but the tend to peel back on the edges. I've laid them over new sub floors and concrete but have had problems with the tiles sticking to the floors due to dust left behind even after sweeping and vacuuming. The primer will settle and seal the dust, and make the adhesive stick much better to the floor. Let the primer dry to touch, and the adhesive dry til at least tachy and not come off on you finger. Using adhesive will be your best bet, you will not have to worry about the tile ever coming up. Good luck
Q: Company office to decorate, want to use a good point of the floor.
You can consider using PVC flooring, decorative and easy to clean. As well as sound-absorbing features can reduce the noise of the office! The The
Q: My floor is falling out and it's wet but the moisture is not coming from the ceiling how would moiature get under my mobile home to the point of rotting the floor and how do I stop it
How old is your trailer? Over the course of decades of time the flexing your particle board subfloor gets from your walking on it causes it to breakdown.
Q: So i want to make a mini dance studio/ gym in my garage. I am already getting floor mats for the gym equipment but flooring for my mini dance studio is too expensive. I was thinking, could I possibly use the same floor mats (which is regular shock absorbtion interlocking mats) but put some sort of vinyl tile flooring over the mats so I can turn and everything? Could this work? Has anyone tried this already?
A dance floor has to be sprung in order to reduce impact on jumps and reduce the risk of you getting hurt. The more modern floors have a basketweave pattern under the surface. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sprung_floor I don't know if the mats will work or not, I haven't heard of anyone doing this.
