- Q:The nitrogen gas in present in the chair cylinder. However what keep chair at mid position, between highest and lowest position? Is there a valve that prevents chair from coming up any further from mid position. - The way a gas spring chair works is that the piston inside the cylinder contains a valve, which lets nitrogen gas pass from one side of the cylinder to the other (see the link below for a diagram). The compression is created because of the volume of the piston rod being introduced into the cylinder, but at all times the pressure on either side of the piston is the same. The lever on the underside of the seat opens the valve in the piston. If you sit on the chair but don't pull the lever, the gas in the piston cannot flow through the valve, so piston remains extended. When you pull that lever, the valve opens and allows gas to flow across the piston, so the piston is able to move down and the gas is compressed. When the chair is at half-height and the lever is released, the valve closes, preventing the piston from moving either way, because the pressures are equal on either side (the pressure in the cylinder is so great that the extra pressure added by sitting on the chair is tiny by comparison). When the chair is at its lowest, the compressed gas is all above the piston, holding it down. It's only when the valve is opened that gas can flow to the other side to raise it.

- For the back of the chair, try a pillowcase on it and see how it fits. What tucks do you have to make? Then try it on the seat. What type cover did you want? A full cover so you don't see the legs? You did not say. I would cut up a sheet, in fact you could use sheets if you do not want to invest in upholstery type fabric. They are washable too. Try a piece on the seat, let it hang to the floor in front, and extend up over the back of the chair until it reaches the floor below. Then you could sew the two backs together till it comes to the seat, stop there. Then you need to sew a piece to each side down to the floor. Then sew up the corners. Hem the bottoms and put a bow or Velcro fastener to the back of the seat corner, or pin it and then sew it, but you have to leave a little room so you can slip it on and off.

- Really consider this. Do you want your LO at their own high chair with a tray, or do you want them to sit at the table? Both has pro's and cons but consider which fits in with your life better. We are limited on space, so chose a wooden high chair that adjusts as our daughter grows, and slides right up to the table. It is great as it takes up no extra space, but there were defiantly times I wanted a tray, especially when she was younger, but this doesn't have one.

- LOL I don't know if it's my favorite, but it's where I spend most of my non working time, my desk chair. Since most of my work is out in the field, building something or fixing something, the rest of my time is at the computer or doing paper work. So this is the chair that I feel most comfortable in. It's not fancy, but I did get one that is comfortable to sit in. I do have other chairs and a sofa in the house, but except for watching a foot ball game or something like that, I don't use them very often. My dog has even claimed the sofa as his own LOL Just me I guess
