- Depends on the exact type of tile. Some porcelain and other hard bodied tile you ll burn the bits and possible the motor itself. If it was a smaller area you had to cut out, it would possible work. Some satillo tiles you could do this with some extra bits , since they are a softer bodied tile. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL

- Q: I would like to hand paint ceramic tiles then cement it on a out door bench. But I have no idea what I need, what to do, and where to get the materials.
- The okorder The difficult part is finding a place to fire them after you have finished painting them. If you live near a school where you are an alum, you may be able to have them fire the tiles for you. (your local community center is another place to ask) Another option would be going to a DIY pottery place. It will definitely give you professional looking results, but it will cost a little more.
- Q: The tile grout on my bathroom floor is white in some parts, but dark where husband stands next to the sink/toilet... How can I clean it without having to re-grout it? Can I just spray bleach on or will that ruin the tile?
- I have tile in my bathroom also and have had the same problem. I will tell you the best way that is easier on your tile and grout. Do not use bleach it wil break the grout and tile down. Go out to Target and buy the Method brand tub and tile cleaner, also buy a Method mop with Method all purpose floor cleaner, and buy a plastic brush that looks like a tooth brush but it bigger in the cleaning isle. Next get some rugs for the toilet and for infront of the sink. Also go to Lowes and buy some sealer. Now your ready to start. Start buy mopping the intire floor with your mop and all purposed floor cleaner(just have a light spray of cleaner on floor never soak it). Then take you Method tub and tile and spray it on your grout and go to work brushing it and spraying it until it comes white. After it is white and dry read the directions on the sealer bottle and seal the grout. Make the sealer puddle just a little over the grout. Wait till it is dry and from then on you won't have problems with dirt collecting on you grout. If you do, then its time to reseal it again and complete the steps above.

- if you are going for a mosaic look then 6x6 tiles would definitely be the answer, but there are more options with 12x12's especially if you want to mix and match materials.

- After installing,,,and removing thousands of sq. ft. of tile, I suggest what the others have. Accept that the job will cause loss. It should be pretty obvious why, and I'll give you an abstract example. Once upon a time postage stamps needed to be moistened to stick. If you felt like you wanted to retrieve the stamp and just attempted pulling a dried stamp from an envelope your success rate would be minimal. The difference in this analogy and your situation is that you can't separate tile from mortar, from the sub floor by steaming and unless you flood the area for a good length of time the mortar won't separate either. An even more valid concern is,,, even if you managed some intact tile, you'd have to grind or chip the mortar from the unfinished side, possibly damaging or breaking those tiles you so wanted to save. No offense at all but tile is relatively inexpensive, but sadly rarely able to be matched over any long time span. Any tile job I've ever done includes no less than 3 extra cases of tile, over and above what I consider might be needed in 10 to 15% waste. Certainly if the tiles were expensive, rare, imported one of a kind, decorative, I understand perhaps wanting to salvage them, but you don't state the WHY of your Q, so I can't truly know. - Just buy a bunch of cases and mix them all up. See if theres an arrow on the back of the tile so you have them all pointed in the same direction.
- Q: How to seal new Porcelin Tile
- Porcelain tile is not porous so sealing is not recommended and can make it slippery like a sheet of ice...You can seal the grout in between though.

- Break down the titles into 3 categories: - Corner tiles (there are 4) - Outer tiles that aren't corner tiles (there are 6*4=24) - The rest, on the inside (there are 6*6 = 36) If a tile is on a corner, there are only 2 possible other squares in the grid that it can share an edge with. If the tile is in the second category, there are 3. And if the tile is somewhere in the middle, there are 4 neighboring tiles it could share an edge with. The total probability that two random tiles share an edge is: ( P(tile is a corner tile)*(2/63) + P(tile is on end)*(3/63) + P(tile is in middle)*(4/63) ) / 2. We have to divide by 2 because we're counting each pair twice. So this is: ((4/64)(2/63) + (24/64)(3/63) + (36/64)(4/63)) / 2 = (8 + 72 + 144) / 2(64*63) = 112/4032 = 0.027777... EDIT: Right after I first posted this I noticed that the user above me got the same answer unsing a different method. I like his method better, but it would seem to be that the total number of unique pairs on the grid is not 64*63, but 64*63/2 because there are two different ways you can pick tiles to make the same pair (depends on which order you pick them in). So maybe the answer is 112 / 2016 and I missed something in my reasoning!
