- Q:i bought this zebra chair from Rooms to Go but i realized that i dont want to do the zebra theme anymore. i want to try and reupholster this chair with a lilac cotton fabric, but I dont know how. HELP!This is what the chair looks like:
- Take careful notes of how the old fabric and stuffing etc. comes off and then put the new fabric back the same way.
- Q:I hate this chair! There is only one control item--a lever, and I've never used it at all. Yet my chair is a different height every other week. This morning I found it so high, my feet don't touch the floor and I can't figure out how to lower it! I've moved the lever in and out and every which way, but the chair doesn't budge.
- Some old chairs adjusted just by screwing in and out of the central column. Since yours has a lever, this is probably not the case. If you have never used the lever, then we can't be certain what it does, but on most I have used, pulling up on the lever while seated should allow the chair to lower. Pulling up while off the chair should allow the chair to rise. Some I have seen also let you push or pull the lever to lock or allow the back to tilt some. If you have tried this, the pneumatic cylinder may be shot. Likely just need a new chair.

- Q:Okay, this is a serious question. When I smell my seat, it straight up smells like farts. I am a clean person and occassionally let one rip (like anyone else), but it seems like my computer chair absorbs the smell.Is this normal? Do all chairs smell like this eventually? How do I get this embarrassing smell out?I find it embarrassing because now that I notice it, I'm not sure if other people who come over and use the computer will notice it to, or if it's just in my mind.And if a fart is just a gas, how come it doesn't just hit the chair and then evaporate away into the air? It makes me think there is more to farts than just gas. Maybe they also contain the elements solids and/or liquids. Please help. This is embarrassing. Now it has me thinking that my car seat probably stinks, too. Is this normal?Please, everyone out there - in the privacy of your home, bend down and smell your own chair. - The urge to squeal with laughter here is enormous but i will retain my dignity and not laugh cos i realise that you are totally serious here?sorry, not laughing just smiling now? you are very entertaining though?I love being entertained? i did bend down and smell my chair for you hun and no, it doesn't smell like farts? Perhaps your chair is made of material and is simply absorbing dirt, dust and smells and aromas from just daily living ie ~ perfumes, food smells, cigarette smoke etc.etc.etc. A good way to spritz it up and sanitise it is to go get yourself some pure essential eucalyptus oil from the chemist or local pharmacy. Put a capfull of eucalyptus oil into a spray bottle full of warm water, shake well and spray over the entire surface of your chair and wipe over with a damp cloth or sponge. Eucalyptus oil is a brilliant antibacterial and antiseptic agent and will eliminate all those nasty odors that are bugging you so much? It is also an all natural remedy and contains no chemicals or nasties to irritate sensitive bodies? Caution: Don't use eucalyptus oil if you have high blood pressure or suffer from epilepsy?if either is the case simply substitute for pure essential tea tree oil, which is also a great antibacterial and antiseptic? - If you can afford it, Steelcase chairs are great. I've bought two over the years and they offer great back support and have many adjustments available to fit your body type. They aren't cheap but you get what you pay for. I figure with as much time as I spend in an office chair, it's a wise investment.

- I don't know what make and model your chair is, and thus what features it has, BUT... most of these chairs has a pneumatic cylinder in the support column, and for adjusting seat height, a LEVER beneath the seat, usually near the right front corner as you sit in the chair. To use this type of adjustment, you press the handle upward against the bottom of the seat, and THEN sit on it, forcing the seat down. When the seat is down, or at the desired elevation, release the handle, and the seat should stay there. If you want the seat at a higher level, remove ALL load from the seat, press the release handle, and a spring should lift the seat. Then when you have the desired height, release the handle and the seat should stay at that level. IF the seat is raising all by itself when you're not sitting on it, I suspect that the adjusting VALVE is not seating properly, and allows air back into the cylinder, and the spring raises the seat [sort of like magic!!!!]. Turn the chair over and check the valve [if it's not concealed] and look for lint or debris which is keeping the valve from fully seating and sealing the vent hole. IF the chair is new, I recommend returning it to the place you bought it and REQUEST REPLACEMENT on the basis that the chair is DEFECTIVE. If it's not new, then it's a matter of either cleaning the valve, or if it's not blocked, then repairing it so it can seat [and seal] properly.

- LOL I don't know if it's my favorite, but it's where I spend most of my non working time, my desk chair. Since most of my work is out in the field, building something or fixing something, the rest of my time is at the computer or doing paper work. So this is the chair that I feel most comfortable in. It's not fancy, but I did get one that is comfortable to sit in. I do have other chairs and a sofa in the house, but except for watching a foot ball game or something like that, I don't use them very often. My dog has even claimed the sofa as his own LOL Just me I guess

- Some chairs need to be leaned back even more to return upwards when you pull the lever. This is to prevent a forceful pat on the back from a spring-loaded chair if you accidentally push the lever while not lying on the chair.
