Q: Office Chairs: I am looking good chair that is comfortable to sit in, will not hurt my back, easy to roll across my desk area. I have sat in the Herman Miller chair and really like them..don't think my boss will go for the $800+ price tag on it though. My desk is kind of low so my arm rest right now kind of get in the way. I do have to hump over a bit to type. Does anyone have any advice to share? Sincerely, C
See if the chair is available slightly used, as many offices change furniture often or go out of business. See if the chair could be leased. See if all the chairs are the same in your ofice maybe they will let you trade with a coworker Check other chairs at a place like office depot to see if they will fit just as well at a better price. $800 is not necessarily that outlandish for a chair compared to other new desk chairs, I rarely see them for less then $200. If you have some physical limitation that makes you current chair not work for you (you are too tall or are too short) your boss should be willing to find a chair that fits you, at a reasonable price. If you really love your job and you really love your boss and are otherwise happy where you work. Offer to buy the chair yourself, because a great job is more precious than a great chair.
Q: i'm looking for one almost exactly like this one, but if it's not totally the same I don't mind, I want with arms like this, I want brown, light or dark blue, grey or an earthy green color but I might end up reupholstering it. I'd hopefully want it to be under $280 but I'm willing to spend a bit more if it fits all the requirements, thanks so much!!

Q: I either need a HUGE chair, or a bench seat with casters. Here is the issue....I'm not big, but am trying to share my office chair with two puppies, LOL. They can lay on the floor, but c'mon, they are just furry people after all!

Q: Alright I have a computer chair and I don't have back pain or back troubles but I was wondering if lowering my chair would be better in general for my back so i'm no so slouched?
A good computer chair has an adjustable seat height that provides a perpendicular angle change while operating computer The knees should be positioned lower than the hips to provide a comfortable seating position Armrest and headrests are also important parts of a computer chair that support both the arms, while you are using one arm for typing and stand your head firm against pushing forward In addition, the back of neck should be well placed against the headrest so that the head tilts slightly back to rest on top of it. This helps minimize all kinds of body pains and muscular cramps while you work for long and tiring hours. More advice on the link.
Q: Hey, so I bought a wing chair from goodwill, I'm going to clean it, but the fabric is ugly, and I want to put new fabric on, how do I go about doing this?
Re-covering a wing chair is a job for an expert upholsterer so i wouldn't recommend it for a first project unless you're a great seamstress already. However, you can make a passable slipcover for it. Choose a soft but sturdy fabric in a solid cover or small or large print (no stripes, medium scale prints or plaids -- too hard to match patterns). You'll need about 6 yards, at least. One cheap way to get a lot of fabric is to buy bedsheets or fabric shower curtains. I made a nice chair slipcover years ago from two heavy cotton large tableclothes, 60 x 120 each that cost me less than $15 total. Wash and machine dry your fabric first to pre-shrink it. You can either make paper patterns by smoothing brown wrapping paper over the areas of the chair and cutting the pieces to fit OR just smooth the fabric over each area (the back, the seat cushion, the sides) and cutting the pieces with an inch on each side. Pin the pieces together over the chair with the good side of the fabric towards the chair and the seam edges out, then sew the seams together. Then turn the slipcover right side out and slip it over the chair. Sew woven tape ties or ribbons at the bottom edge near all 4 legs and tie them around the legs to keep the cover from riding up or slipping. If the seat cushion is removeable, make the cover to fit the chair with the cushion off, then make a separate slip cover for the seat cushion with a zipper or velcro to close one side. If you go to a fabric store, some of the pattern companies (like mcCalls, Butterick and Simplicity) have patterns that give instructions for making slipcovers like this -- your local library probably has upholstering guide books too. Good luck with your chair!
Q: I would like to get my boyfriend a nice chair for Christmas to watch his football games and play his video games in. I have a budget of a $1000 but if I can of course I'd like to spend less. I'm going to go to look at some La-Z Bots tomorrow but any other suggestions would be much appreciated. Also, is that even a good idea to get him a man chair for Christmas?
Yes, I think a chair is a pretty nice thought. Lay-Z-Boys are the best chairs... I would though, if he already has chair measure the depth of the seat. My sister got a love seat and your feet dangle because the seat is soooo deep... and it isn't very comfortable... So I'd measure that.. And also measure the width, because if there are any large people you don't want a chair that is only 30 inches wide, they won't fit in it... Probably look for around 35 inches wide. The depth you'll have to determine on your own, but ask the sales person if they recommend an average depth size... Happy shopping!! :-) and Merry Christmas...
Q: I'm a big fan of Vincent's work. Does anyone know what kind of chair that is? I would like a replica of not the picture but the furniture piece.Does anyone know wher I could find a furniture maker from whom I can buy one?
Hi! okorder /
Q: I recently bought this chair from a furniture dealer in South-East London. Got a good offer and bought the chair purely on aesthetic value
mom says it looks like it is from the 1950's and either is / or is a copy of - Duncan fife style funiture came in a set with a table - yours is the captains chair the dad sat in it would make a good desk chair - worth about twenty dollars american
Q: They are all in the same room and are in fairly close proximity to each other. Should I cover them all in the same fabric? Or cover the dining chairs in a solid pattern, and the bar stools in a complementing fabric? Thanks
NavyBrat - I recently re-covered 6 kitchen chairs and 6 dining rom chairs. They are in separate rooms but visible to each other. I chose 2 different patterns with the same color profile. Different textures - the kitchen chairs have a much heavier texture tan the dining room chairs. I did a lot of shopping and found my fabric at a local remnant upholstery shop. I purchased 5 yards of fabric for $35. The original price on the fabric for the kitchen chairs was $30 per yard and the original price for the dining room fabric was $35 per yard. I do believe I got a great deal. 12 chair cushions for $35. Same color profile - different pattern, different texture. Good luck
Q: I have an 8 month old baby. What is the best high chair that will last awhile? I'm also pregnant with my 2nd baby so I would use this for baby #2 also. Please share links of the high chair. I need to purchase one by tomorrow. Thanks!
Oh man. You are describing my 7 month old. (Well your babe is older now) This is got me freaked out. She was colic until 4 months. She is now on her third set of teeth, and the first one popped through only one month ago. She is constantly fussy, needs to be carried around all day, and doesn't sleep at all, really. We might get a sporadic sleeping all night long once or twice a month. I know i am not answering your question, but i want to tell you I know how you feel!! My pediatricain is such a butt too... No advise just, some babies are like that, it's her personality. My son was a breeze, happy go lucky, slept well, liked everyone, could at least play occasionlly by himself without whining and crying. (of coarse my babe is only 7 months) I can relate to your trapped feeling. I only have one other, you have four! Poor mommy. And don't you get frustrated when someone says well you should just do that or this, you can't let them have there way all the time. Like you said easier said than done. I work full time, 12hr days, three days a week, but don't go to school. I am sure you are just drained, i know i am. Good luck from one high need baby momma to another! I just keep telling myself hang in there girl...
