Q:Could I make a living by running my own organic garden?
yes you can. I have been doing so for the past 15+ years. But if you do not have at least an acre of land your will have to invest in land which can be very expensive. Marketing skills are key to being successful along with the ability to keep good records. Home gardening skills will help but will not really prepare your for growing for market. Start small so you are not overwhelmed and know that to make a living you will have to farm at least 3 acres. Also do not get into the trap of trying to provide everything for everyone. This is a sure fire way to get burned out very quickly. Choose something you are good at doing and like to do well enough that you can devote 80+ hours a week to the endeavour. A market garden alone will take well over 45 hours a week of your time. Animals will take about as much time and making things like mead, beer, wine (which you will need a lot of licensing to do this legally), candles etc.. will also take around 40 hours a week. So if you want any kind of life other than being a complete slave to your farm (much less any time to sleep or eat) think about specializing a lot more than what you seem to be thinking
Q:best at home bug repellant for vegetable garden?

Q:Why is this question in the home and garden section?
Because you wanted attention from all of us in the home and garden section. (: A question would be nice next time. Hello, Hammer Cycle. (:
Q:Do people shop for kitchen and home stuff online?
Baby please online is the best thing to ever happen. I bought a wonderful dinning room set from California It cost a pretty penny but ooooooo soooo worth it.
Q:Priorities for home improvement in older home?
I'd say immediately have the windows replaced with vinyl framed double glazed Low-E -- that's the biggest energy waster. Next, I'd say blow more attic insulation -- up to about R 38 in the South and about R 48 up north, if there's room in the attic. Walls are important, but not nearly as important as windows and ceiling insulation. Landscaping can be done pretty much all year long, as long as the ground isn't frozen -- trees and shrubs transplant best in about Feb here in TX. Kitchen and bath -- ask wifey, she'll know that answer.
Q:Cheesecake Supreme recipe from 1980s Better Homes and Gardens cookbook?
The last one with the cookie like crust is close, but I do not remember the whipping cream. Also the one I used back then had a strawberry glaze but the top had pineapple slices and strawberries with the glaze. Very good and made it for years. Lost the page out of my 1966 cookbook!!!
Q:I need a promo code for Home Depot to Save money on a large purchase please?
I dont' have a promo code of Home Depot but if you go to your post office, there is a Lowes 10% off coupon in their change of address packets you could get for your large purchase. Plus Lowes price matches too. Maybe your post office will even have a Home Depot Coupon in the packet as they differ with locations.
Q:Are Anti-Mosquito\Mosquito Killer Sprays bad for plants & vegetables.?
Mat is correct as far as Roundup is concerned. It is safe to use on weeds in lawns because it clings to the leaves of the weeds and doesn't get deposited in the soil. Now if you need to kill an area again to get rid of stubborn weeds, don't use chemicals. Plain old white vinegar will do the job, but it requires a lot. Let the weeds curl up and die from the vinegar, then water the soil well 2 or 3 times over the course of a week. You can replant after that. White vinegar will also kill ant hills as well as gasoline does, but the soil recovers Use it to kill the weeds in your sidewalk, too.
Q:Garden picked pumpkin, good source of protein?
Pumpkins don't contain very much protein, if any. The milk or dairy products you use for the soup will though. Vegetables are not by themselves good strong protein sources--you can combine vegetables to get proteins, but you still need more than what they provide. The highest sources are beans and legumes, combined with grains such as wheat or rice. There is only about 2 grams of protein in a cup of pumpkin puree.
