Q:How can I make sun-dried tomatoes using tomatoes from my home garden?
my neighbor just laid some out in a plastic baggie and kept them in the sun.
Q:Mine is in storage, and I need measurements for the Chicken Mole de Cacahuete (peanut sauce) I make it all the time from scratch but when I was first learning I used this as a guide for measurement purposes. My daughter now wants the recipe and I could only give her the ingredients with out measurements. An ingredient list with measurements would be great! I don't need the instructions. P.S. The Chicken Mole Verde or Mole de Tomatillo on the page opposite this in the cookbook is yummy too. I made it once when I was 14. Thanks to anyone that can help with this particular cookbook. It actually has some pretty good recipes in it.
I happened to have this recipe in my personal collection. I don't have the other one. I have listed a link to the book below Chicken with Peanut Mole Sauce (Pollo en Mole de Cacahuate) Yield: 6 to 8 servings 1 (4-pound) stewing chicken, cut up 8 cups water 4 stalks celery with leaves 1 medium carrot, sliced 1 small onion, cut up 2 sprigs parsley 2 teaspoons instant chicken bouillon granules 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1/2 of a 10-ounce can (2/3 cup) tomatoes with green chiles 2 slices white bread, torn 2 Tablespoons creamy peanut butter 4 whole cloves 3 whole black peppercorns 1 (1/2-inch stick) cinnamon 3/4 teaspoon chili powder 1 small clove garlic, minced Place chicken pieces in Dutch oven with water. Add celery, carrot, onion, parsley, bouillon granules, pepper. Bring to boiling. Cover cook over low heat 2 to 2-1/2 hours or till chicken is tender. Remove chicken pieces. Place in a 2-quart casserole. Strain broth; skim off fat. Reserve 1-1/2 cups of the broth for sauce (cover refrigerate remaining broth for another use). To prepare mole de cacahuate: In blender container place the reserved chicken broth, tomatoes with green chiles, bread, peanut butter. Cover blend till smooth. Turn into 2-quart saucepan. With mortar pestle crush cloves, peppercorns, cinnamon well; add to saucepan along with chili powder garlic. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat simmer, uncovered, 15 to 20 minutes or till thickened, stirring often. Spoon mole de cacahuate over chicken in casserole. Bake, covered, in 350-degree F. oven 30 to 40 minutes or till heated through. Recipe Source: Better Homes Gardens Mexican Cooking (Better Homes Gardens)

Q:how can i get rid of black algae in garden pond?
read okorder /.. black, it says, is bad... anerobic conditions... need to get oxygen into the water with a fountain or waterfall...
Q:I have a large garden in my backyard that I am trying to cultivate. However the soil is very clay-like and hardens quickly like corn field dirt. Its too large to cover with miracle grow or anything and hand tilling it as well as keeping things alive in it is very hard. Any suggestions?
You have to manage your garden in stages. And the first stage involves putting in plants that will go a long way toward helping to change your soil type for you while making the garden look nice. Look for plants that are species native to your area. Look for plants that propagate underground, because the creation of a network of roots helps till the soil. Look for plants that grow thick, because, again, this helps loosen the soil. And look for plants that will really spread both over one season, and from one season to the next. There are many herbs that fit the bill, including feverfew, mint, and pennyroyale. There are also many great decorative plant, like lilies and heliotropes, that will grow fast and help improve the soil. Also try ornamental grasses. After a few years of growing this stuff in your garden, and doing the relatively easy tasks of spreading some sand and compost over the soil, you should be able to start replacing your first-stage plants with plants that are more desirable, and slightly more difficult to grow. Your soil you be improved enough to consider plants with specific needs RE drainage and soil quality. And, if you really want something special, that requires really good soil, it will not be so difficult at this point to bump up the soil quality in a small area of your garden.
Q:Hi, I have a copy of the Better Homes and Gardens Bread Cookbook from 1963. In there is a recipe for Hopping Bunny Bread. The picture with the recipe shows two versions of the finished bread: one has the bunnies shaped in a curlicue type of fashion, with a head, body, tail and ears. The other version is simpler, just a twist of bread that resembles a bunny from the back, with a tail at the bottom. I have the cookbook but we moved and a lot of my books are in storage, and I won't be able to look for this book until after Easter. This bread is a tradition in my house...I bake enough for my family and for my parents too. I do remember that there is orange juice in the bread dough. If anyone has this recipe or cookbook and can give me the recipe I will really appreciate it!

I am a Designer for Home and Garden Party. I personally think that over time the quality of our products have gotten alot better. I remember the things that I had gotten from just hosting parties from about 6 years ago to now. Believe me--alot better. I must say I absolutely love our products--you could not ask for better quality---and our stuff comes with a guarantee + our stoneware and bakeware have warranties on them. Was there a specific item you were thinking about, or just referrring to them all in general? If I could be of any further assistance--let me know. Thanks.

Q:How can i get a water flower at home or garden?
By water flower, you mean a water lily, or water hyacinth, or the like? You can make a small water garden yourself by making a small pond, or even lining a half barrel, or other large container, and making a small container water garden. The garden center near me stocks water garden plants starting around May 1st (too cold right now), but if you live someplace warm, you may be able to find them earlier. You can also mail order online, as water lilies can be shipped dormant very easily.
