Q:I have a nice little spot to plant a garden; I'd like to do herbs for my cooking. It gets morning sun, till about 1pm. Any suggestions?
You would really be suprised at what will grow, even if it's not in the sun!
Q:im waiting to go see a mobile home 3 bdr 2 bth
I had a 91 and it had a garden tub. My neighbor 86 had a garden tub too. I think most of them had that. Depends on the make and model.
Q:How can I enrich my home vegetable garden?
Miami is one of the most used vacation spots and with hotelbye you'll find out more. Miami has something for all; from the cool nightlife of South Beach, bejeweled by a person's eye chocolate of the Art Deco region around the bustle of Calle Ocho and the extremely caffeinated energy of Little Havana. The Art Deco District brings right back thoughts of an earlier time in Florida with its incredibly restored 1930s Art Deco houses and is a place well visited exactly like Bayside Marketplace. This place is really a big outside fashion mall with more than 150 specialty and tourist shops, numerous bars and restaurants, and daily stay entertainment.
Q:What are the main points i should remember when i design a home garden on my own?
I hope you mean flower garden...because vegetable gardens are another story altogether. First, find plants good for your hardiness zone. If they aren't hardy in your area, they won' t survive the first winter. Second, find plants that are appropriate for the amount of sunlight you get in the area you're planting. Full sun plants will not thrive if they only get one hour of direct sunlight a day. Shade plants may get leaf burn in full sun. Third, select plants which will mature to the size you want in each area. Don't pick plants based on the size when you purchase them. If so, they will become overgrown and look bad. Fourth, choose colors that go well together and complement each other. Fifth, choose some evergreen, some perennial, and some annuals. Evergreens keep their leaves all year. Perennials die off in the fall but come back every year. Annuals last only one season and usually are planted to give a large amount of seasonal color--things like petunias and impatiens. For vegetable gardens, it's important to improve your soil, make sure the garden gets plenty of sunlight (most vegetables need full sun), keep out the critters who think it's a salad bar, keep out the bugs who will destroy your plants, plant at the right time, and choose plants and space them appropriately. I also recommend composting your yard and kitchen waste so that you have a free source of soil improver for next year. Gardening is really satisfying once you get going. Good luck to you!
Q:Home Garden gt; General - Home Garden --gt; WTF?
Mr Tired
Q:My question is: Do other high ranking generals/admirals (like other members of the JCS) get similar houses? Obviously they get huge residences but do they have old historical homes similar to the one of the commandant? For example, where does the Chairman of the JCS live? Where is the official military residence of the Chairman of the JCS???
Flag Housing on Yokosuka Naval base is REALLLLLLLY Nice. former homes of Imperial Navy Admirals who put Emperors up for the night nice. koi ponds, bridges over gurgling streams, formal Dining rooms that seat 20. every older base has heritage housing that is set aside for Flags and Base COs
Q:I am specifically looking for their swedish meatball recipe from the 70's. The newer Better Homes Gardens cookbooks have a different recipe. That old recipe is my mom's favorite, but we lost that recipe can't find it anywhere. I'm not sure if it matters but we used to have the paperback version of that cookbook.
I have a 1981 Better Homes and Gardens cookbook which has the following recipe for Swedish Meatballs 1/2 cup chopped onion 3 tablespoons butter or margarine 1 beaten egg 1 cup light cream 1 1/2 cups soft bread crumbs 1/4 cup finely snipped parsley 1 1/4 teaspoon salt Dash ground nutmeg Dash ground ginger Dash pepper 1 1/2 pounds ground beef * 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon instant beef bouillon granules 1/2 teaspoon instant coffee crystals Cook onion in 1 tablespoon of the butter or margarine till tender. In a mixing bowl combine egg and cream; stir in cooked onion, bread crumbs, parsley, salt, nutmeg, ginger, and pepper.Add ground beef or meats; mix well. Chill mixture. Shape chilled meat mixture into 3/4 to 1 inch balls. Brown meatballs, half at a time, in the remaining 2 tablespoons butter or margarine; remove from skillet. Stir in flour, bouillon granules, and coffee crystals into pan drippings; add 1 1/4 cups water. Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly. Add meatballs. Cover; simmer about 30 minutes, basting meatballs occasionally. Makes about 60 meatballs. * Or, use a mixture of 3/4 pound ground beef, 1/2 pound ground veal, and 1/4 pound ground pork for the meatballs.
Q:I have one of these cookbooks, and I think it's a 75th anniversary edition, or something like that. In the retro recipe part, there's a recipe for crepes filled with spinach and four cheeses. Sadly, I've lost the recipe, and I can't find it anywhere. Anyone know where I can find it online? Or, does someone actually have it and could post it on here? I'm dying to make these again, so if you can help, I'd greatly appreciate it!
This is a Better Homes Gardens recipe from the 70's. It only has 3 different cheeses but I hope it is the recipe you are looking for. Baked Appetizer Crepes 12 6-inch crepes 2 beaten eggs 2 cups ricotta cheese 1 1/2 cups shredded Swiss cheese 1 10-ounce package frozen, chopped spinach, thawed and well drained. 1 1/2 cups soft bread crumbs (3 slices bread) 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese 1/4 tsp. black pepper dash garlic powder 1/2 cup butter or margarine 1 cup whipping cream 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese 1. Prepare crepes. In a bowl combine eggs, ricotta, Swiss cheeses and bread crumbs, 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, pepper and garlic powder; mix well. Spoon about 1/3 cup filling into center of each crepe. roll up. Cut each rolled crepe crosswise into thirds. Place the pieces, cut side up, in a 2-quart baking dish. 2. In a small saucepan, melt butter, stir in cream and the remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture thickens slightly. Pour the sauce over the crepes. Bake in a 400 degree oven for 18 to 20 minutes or until heated through.
Q:This one corner of our house is just swarmed with box elder bugs and I want to get rid of them for good, we even cut down the box elder tree that was by our house and they are back this year.
You should try one of Jerry Baker's tonics. One of the ingredients is liquid dish soap, which softens the bug's body, rendering them as good as dead. You will need a hose-end sprayer (available at any home garden store if you don't already have one).
