Q:had dead batt now it‘s gone crazy when i went to jump start it the alarm went bannanas but hear the problem bought the truck used and had no idea it ean had an alarm to get it to stop the noise i cut the horn/siren now the blue light flashes all the time never flashed b 4 and its makeing a quite clicking noise like every 30 seconds .so with no remote what would you do btw its a 1999 burban

is it an after market alarm or is it factory fitted to the car? If it is factory fitted you should be able to get a remote from the manufacturer, if not, your gonna have to remove the alarm system. can be tricky because there are heaps of wires hooked up to the control module.

Q:okay my grandmother has a 1997 lexus ls400. with the famous 1uzfe 4.0 v8so today she accidentally drove through about 2 feet standing water and she was able to go to rite aid the on her way home it started chugging she said. i checked it out oils, fine check engine light is on though. when i started it up, the engine idled at like 200rpms then eventually shut off, it did this for about 15 seconds, but it sounds like a misfire. i need help before i consult a mechanic.fyi i do know quite a bit about mechanics i have a 68 cutlass, however when it comes to the newer stuff like the lexus although 14 years old im in unfamiliar territory with the ignition system and electronics

Use a code reader and find out why the check engine light is on. You have a bad electronic component in the ignition system.

Q:my check engine light come on today in my 2004 jetta gl. I was going to drive it to my parents place tomorrow which is about 3 hours drive i just want to make sure if it is very serious or if i could drive it.

this could be your service indicator. look at how many miles you have on the odometer and see if it should be a regular scheduled maintenance time. if that doesn't ring any bells hit up autozone to have the computer scanned for faults. My jetta had the CEL on for about 8 months until recently i had a part completely crap out on me and needed to be replaced. EDIT* the reason the light went out is because the person who read the code for you cleared it from the computer's memory. If there is a problem the light will come back on. Being that it involves the ignition system i would have it looked at by a trustworthy mechanic. if unrepaired it can cause starting problems which could lead to killing your spark plugs, distributor, wires, etc.

Q:i wen to advanced auto parts today because the check engine light on my 2002 nissan sentra has been on for a while, they did a check and told me that i had an evap leak and that i would have to take it to a mechanic so that he can run smoke through it and find out where the leak is. how much does this usually cost (i mean for them to use their machine to find the leak and then to fix it)

The evap system is just a hose/tube running from the top of the gas tank to a charcoal canister under the hood. It take the gasoline vapors that would normally escape out a vented gas cap and runs them thru the charcoal, which absorbs the gasoline. Later, when you start the engine, there's a vacuum line from the top of the charcoal canister to the engine, the engine sucks air thru the length of the canister, and all the nasty gas vapors get burned in the engine, there by saving the world for future generations. There is also, on some cars, a switch of some kind on the canister. Don't really know what it does, but bet you the computer knows, and that switch is probably what is triggering the error message. Now you know where to start looking - find out what the heck that switch does, why it does it, and report back .

Q:ok i own a 2000 silverado 4.3L Vortec engine. last year i put true duals, no muffler but the cats still there. the cats have been burned through and are jut pipe basically now. anyway the o2 sensors along the right pipe are ruined one is cut off and the other is melted to the pipe. the right pipe is questionable. anyway i recently put a cold air intake on with stock tubing. i used the old sensor thing with the electrical plug. i decided to just run the filter literaly on the intake manifold. the truck actualy runs and the service engine soon light went off????? so i took it for a drive and it runs great!!! better than ever and i can hear the filter. i like it but i noticed my transmission cause its auto that it is shifting a lot smoother and actualy faster. like short quick shifts.!! i plan on running it like this permenantly is that good idea???

I think your check engine light just burned out! Go to an auto parts place that checks computer codes for free. You probably have several codes, but the computer is managing the engine on get home settings. You vehicle will not pass inspection!

Q:Both having the same engine size (4Cyl) 2.5 and autotrans. difference between S and LS is the premium sound system, automatic roll up windows on both the driver and passenger side, auto lights, foglamps, and in some cases with Navigation system instead of 6CD changer BOSE. Any input will be appreciated. thank you

No many hidden parts to drive the navigation screen Body controls and even the auto windows use different switches and motors. It would be less expensive to sell the S and find a LE with the 3.5 liter V-6. On your car Nissan might not even sell a fog light kit.

If it's factory wired and you have not mess with the electrical system it's probably just s light socket gone bad. Buy a universal replacement at the auto parts store amd Connect it using solder less connectors.
