Q: I had my egr valves replaced cause they were stuck open, my fuel system flushed, and engine decarb. then my check engine light went off. today it came back on could my fuel pump be bad? also when i am stopping my car seems to jerk. what could be causing these problems.
We really need to know the year, make and model. Mileage helps too.
Q: Lately I have been having trouble with my Honda Accord‘s battery draining itself after I turn it off. Subsequently I have to get somebody to jump it when I want to drive it around. What could be the problem, and what is a cheap and effective way of finding out how to trace the problem and fix it?
this is a pretty normal occurrence. brake fluid is corrosive so over time it gets contaminated from the metal lines it runs through.although it is not really nessacary to flush and put in clean fluid.you can do this by what you have already been doing bleeding but it will take a lot of it do it from back wheel the right one as it is farthest distance from master cylinder. just keep cracking it open and forceing out fluid and add new each time it gets low and after a while you will flush out all of the dirty fluid
Q: Over the weekend our 1997 Honda Civic sedan developed an interesting problem. After starting the car and pushing on the brake I cannot shift the auto transmission out of Park. So I first have to manually unlock it, shift to Neutral and then start the car. Also the horn is now not working. I checked the horn fuse which was blown and replaced it but upon trying to test the horn the fuse blew again. Any ideas on what the problem could be?
The problem with the car not shifting out of Park is caused by your blown fuse for the Horn. Here's the logic the car will not shift out of Park unless you have your foot on the brake pedal. the only way the shift interlock system knows you have your foot on the brake pedal is that when you put your foot on the brake pedal the brake lights in the back of the car come on. so if the brake lights are ON then the shift interlock system lets you take the car out of Park. the taillights share the same fuse as the horn. so when the fuse for the horn blows the brake lights don't work. you have to systematically eliminate the components in the circuit to see what's causing the problem. I would do it this way 1) replace the fuse (better have about 5 fuses to do this). then step on the brake and shift the car out of Park. if it works then you can eliminate everything in the brake lights portion of the system because the fuse did not blow. 2) try the horn. again, I know you said it blew when you tested the horn so your problem should be with the horn side but do it just to confirm. if the fuse blows again then you know its the horn circuit that is the problem 3) replace the fuse, then unplug the horn connector. then try the horn again. if the fuse doesn't blow you have a shorted horn. my guess is this is your problem. 3) if the fuse blows then the problem is with the horn relay. you can substitute any like relay in the underhood fuse and relay box for the horn relay and test it. if the horn works and the fuse doesn't blow your problem is a shorted relay. 4) if you find the horn is shorted then you can just remove the connector and drive without the horn until you can get it fixed or, if you can't get to the horn connector (its usually not very easy) then pull the horn relay and at least you'll have brake lights and the shift interlock until you can get the horn replaced I think you'll find its the horn itself. Hope that helps
Q: my 1991 Honda accord has auto transmission with the optional sport or normal switch.the light blinks nonstop?
there's a problem within the trans system , get it diagnose could be something simple
Q: What are the main factors that affect the price of car headlamps?
The type of light bulb.
Q: I just purchased a 2007 BMW 335i and was wondering how this may be done. I know I can turn them on by turning on my parking brakes. Also, I can run daytime running lamp bulbs but those look kind of ugly. I just want to have my coronas turn on when my light switch is turned to automatic. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
The coronas, normally called angel eyes, ARE the DRLs. They come on whenever the parking lights (not parking brakes) are on. They can also come on independently if you have it set up in either i-Drive, or if you don't have navigation then by using your instrument cluster menu system. It's all in the owners manual. Placing the headlight switch into the auto position will turn on the headlights if it's dark enough or if it's raining, which then turns on the angel eyes since the parking lights come on too. If you have DRL turned on as mentioned above, they would be on all the time and then the headlights would come on once it got dark outside. The parking lights are the orange ones on the very outside of the headlight assembly. If you have DRL enabled in whatever menu system you have, they are on all the time regardless of the headlight switch position. The angel eyes are run by a single bulb for each side of the car, a 35 watt H8 to be specific. The inner headlights (what used to be high beams) are the cornering lights and are operated by a 55 watt H3 bulb. These come on individually when turning if the headlight switch is in auto (and it's dark). They also both come on when backing up if in auto. The outside lights are the high and low beam lights, and should be a D1S bulb assuming you have xenon lights. These lights also pivot when turning if switch is in auto (and it's dark).
Q: Went and got a stereo installed everything worked fine b4 now my clock dome light and trunk lights do not work I drove my car to my mechanic and they checked my fuses they are fine they said to go back and ask the people who installed my stereo system if they would pay for iti paid $430 for this system and all it was, was a new cd/mp3 player and sub/ampi already had to go back because the sub they gave me had a patchthey replaced it .btw when they were done with it my SRS light was on i sat and waited 2 hours for them to finally turn it off and i waited for them to try and fix the clock for them to tell me its probably not even worth fixing after i told them it worked before I‘m pretty angryso my question is am I stuck with the bill or should I ask them to help pay it or all?
They said I got lucky it only took two hrs for them to turn off the light that they made come on they said they won't help pay for it when I told them I took it to my mechanic they responded with I don't know what your mechanic would do about it.wow kinda rude huh btw I am the one who posted this question just on another name my iPod touch is set to this name
Q: I had it diagnosed at a local auto parts store and the printout said the system is too lean. Is there a way to adjust it or a way to program the computer without taking it to the dealer? Also it idles VERY rough. What can I do?
the code that indicates a too lean condition is set when the computer is no longer able to adjust for the lean condition by holding the fuel injectors open for longer injector pulses that add more fuel. Once the computer's self-adjusting capacity is exceeded the code is set. The code indicates that unmetered air is entering the engine. The most likely cause is that a vacuum hose has come off and you have a large vacuum leak in the engine. That would cause your rough idle. So the first thing to do is to look around at all of the black vacuum lines to see if any are disconnected or split. The second possibility is an Exhaust Gas Recircualtion Valve that is hung open. That would similarly induce a huge amount of air that bypasses the throttle plates r into the engine. The EGR failure is probably the most likely cause as they get jammed with carbon and can't close. Usually if the EGR is bad the idle will be very rough but the engine will smooth out if you raise the engien speed to over 2000 rpm. The third possibility is a leaking intake manifold gasket that would again cause the engine to suck in air that does not go through the metering system. You can usually test for a leaking intake gasket by spraying a water mist or a carburetor cleaner on the intake manifolds were they meet the cylinder heads. If the engine smooths out then the gasket is bad. Be careful if you use carburetor cleaner because if you have a split or disconnected hose and you spray the carb cleaner around it could get sucked in and enrich the mixture to give you a 'false positive' test on the intake gasket. If none of that makes sense, take it to a technician and have them diagnose it. From what you say, the problem is not with the computer; its doing its job in monitoring the system. There is a mechanical problem with the engine. There is also the chance that the fuel injectors are plugged with contaminated fuel but that's a long shot. hope that helps
Q: My car is Chery situation 2, feeling the headlamp is not the general garbage, want it bright spot, without affecting the original car circuit, there is no good program
