Aluminium foil acts as a total barrier to light and oxygen (which cause fats to oxidise or become rancid), odours and flavours, moistness, and germs, it is used broadly in food and pharmaceutical packaging. The purpose of aluminium is to make long-life packs (aseptic processing|aseptic packaging) for drinks and dairy goods, which allows storing without refrigeration. Aluminium foil containers and trays are used to bake pies and to pack takeaway meals, ready snacks and long life pet foods.

Aluminium foil is widely sold into the consumer market, often in rolls of 500 mm (20 in) width and several metres in length. It is used for wrapping food in order to preserve it, for example, when storing leftover food in a refrigerator (where it serves the additional purpose of preventing odour exchange), when taking sandwiches on a journey, or when selling some kinds of take-away or fast food. Tex-Mex restaurants in the United States, for example, typically provide take-away burritos wrapped in aluminium foil.

Aluminium foils thicker than 25 μm (1 mil) are impermeable to oxygen and water. Foils thinner than this become slightly permeable due to minute pinholes caused by the production process.

Aluminium foil has a shiny side and a matte side. The shiny side is produced when the aluminium is rolled during the final pass. It is difficult to produce rollers with a gap fine enough to cope with the foil gauge, therefore, for the final pass, two sheets are rolled at the same time, doubling the thickness of the gauge at entry to the rollers. When the sheets are later separated, the inside surface is dull, and the outside surface is shiny. This difference in the finish has led to the perception that favouring a side has an effect when cooking. While many believe that the different properties keep heat out when wrapped with the shiny finish facing out, and keep heat in with the shiny finish facing inwards, the actual difference is imperceptible without instrumentation. The reflectivity of bright aluminium foil is 88% while dull embossed foil is about 80%.

We provide a full range of precision aluminum strip for almost any application. We produce aluminum strip in a wide variety of alloys, including clad composites. Our aluminum strip can be produced in standard dimensions or custom made to your special requirements. We produce both imperial and metric units. We manufacture in compliance with the main international specifications, and tighter tolerances or custom tempers are available upon request. We offer various surface conditions, custom finishes (painting, anodizing, embossing), special processing, and multiple packaging options to meet our customer's unique requirements. The following is a summary of our capabilities.

Manufactured in compliance with the main international specifications and standards, including:  Aluminum Association, ASTM, EN, and DIN.
We can also manufacture in compliance with other international standards including:ASME, SAE, AMS, AWS, FED, MIL, QQ, ISO, BS, AFNOR, JIS and GOST.

Manufactured in compliance with the main international specifications and standards.
Tighter tolerances are available upon request.

Aluminium alloys with a wide range of properties are used in engineering structures. Alloy systems are classified by a number system (ANSI) or by names indicating their main alloying constituents (DIN and ISO).

The strength and durability of aluminium alloys vary widely, not only as a result of the components of the specific alloy, but also as a result of heat treatments and manufacturing processes. A lack of knowledge of these aspects has from time to time led to improperly designed structures and gained aluminium a bad reputation.

One important structural limitation of aluminium alloys is their fatigue strength. Unlike steels, aluminium alloys have no well-defined fatigue limit, meaning that fatigue failure eventually occurs, under even very small cyclic loadings. This implies that engineers must assess these loads and design for a fixed life rather than an infinite life.

Q: Are there people who have used this beforeSo I'm using a normal nestle water bottle and a 2 litre root beer bottleBut idk what to use for the bowlSo I've decided to use either aluminum foil or the tip of a pencil (eraser) part Is that part metal? And would the bong still be effective if I was using a small bottle for eg300 mLK thanks
I think Lena is greatThe first last name that jumped into my head was Lena Robson.

Q: hi, i am doing a drama and in it people wear smiling masks to hide their frowns and bruises and suchthen they take them off when their friends go away and they do a monoulgue to the audience about what is wrong with them and what they are going threw then they put the mask back on and return to their friends.the only problem i have is that the drama is on wednesday the 28th, and i dont have a mask!!!!!!it seems so simple right? just a simple smiling face! but no one sells one! this where i need your love-e-ly people's help, do you guys know where i can buy some masks?
for the sake of EZ TO CLEAN-then cover them-you can buy pre made liners that set in there-makes it even easierjust throw it in the garbage plop a new one in there as for the changing of the cooking time-not!! when I had an element stove, I always covered the burner plates cuz they were such a !$ to cleanI have a glass top, self cleaning unit now heh heh true -they will discolor after awhile because of the trapped heat, however, they will be covered with foil so no one is gonna see it anyways lol-plus if the discoloring bothers you, new burner plates are inexpensive
Q: if there was a people that lived on mars and that were somehow extingushed leave behind some traces of their being there after say 25000 years or would all traces be gone?
I'm no expert but its a matter of slangAfter a while, a population will have certain habits and in this case, word changes I guessAmerican and British, although evidently very similar, are different because of the 'pond' that separates themAmericans weren't just British people to begin withSoon enough other ethnic groups joined the bundle and this created a wider chance of vocabulary I guessDon't forget there were also native americans, and many other european groups that could've contributed to the American english slang that the British did not have access toThe only example I can think of is the world 'thongs'To me (and many others), are pieces of lingerie but apparently, according to a friend of mine from Willongong (is that how it's spelt?) in Australia, 'thongs' are flip flopsSo, why are there two different meanings? There just isSimple as thatSorry this wasn't very detailed but hopefully I cleared some things up.
Q: hybridization of aluminium?
sp2 The monomer AlBr3, observed only in the vapor, can be described as trigonal planar, D3h point groupThe atomic hybridization of aluminium is often described as sp2The Br-Al-Br bond angles are 120 °Another kind of hybridization uses the s orbital and two of the p orbitals from the second energy level of carbon to form three hybrid orbitalsThis kind of hybridization is called sp2 hybridizationIt has three hybrid orbitals and there is also an unchanged p orbitalThe geometric arrangement of these three sp2 hybrid orbitals is in a flat plane with 120 degree angles between themThe leftover p orbital lies at a 90 degree angle to the hybrid orbitalsits two lobes would be pointing directly at and away from youatomsIf it is a very simple molecule with just the Al atom and the other three atoms, it would be a flat triangular moleculeIf this is part of a larger molecule, this part would have a flat triangular shape.
Q: Antique store people told me this a few years back and I forgot what you had to the tide, baking soda or ???
Never ever block attic roof vents would i be doin' more harm than good ? and the answer is yes
Q: just wondering b/c i am thinking about changing my block
Are the heads aluminum ? Try a magnet The liquid glass can give you some extra time, but it will also coat clog any small coolant passages in the radiator, the heater core, maybe the bearings in the water pumpIt'll mess-up much more then it fixesI've seen it used successfully in heads, but when it's applied to the bare heads that are off the engine.
Q: I was wondering who makes the lightest aluminum road wheels? Mavic?
topolino makes some killer sets. the carbon core cx2.0 weight 1340 grams. i have a set and love it, stiff, light and fast. very durable. bikingthings
Q: Hi all, I'm a DM for a dungeons and dragons group, and my group and I really want more interesting scenery for the miniatures to traipse around inI was wondering, do you think I could buy a ton of playdoh and let pieces dry out, and use it as scenery? for instance, making an old dwarven kingdom, mountains, rural settings, that kind of thingmy idea is to have a few pieces of cardboard as the set, and then put a thin layer of playdo on it for the ground, and then build walls and settings with the remaining playdowould this work? if not, what else could I use? thanks!
Try modeling clay insteadYou can buy it at Michael's and it is very easy to useJust push it into the mold, or mold it yourself, then put it into the oven on lowIt can also be painted.
