- Q:can you use just one power (positive) cable cut it and use the rest for your negative
- In theory, yes you can do this provided a couple things. I know it seems a simple question, and you may be fine but for safety's sake.... Power cable is usually 10 gauge braided copper. this should cover just about any amp, but as the current draw is thru the ground, this cable is usually 8 gauge and a much shorter run. If you are running a ton of power with this amp, you may want to just splurge and get yourself a run of 8 gauge ground wire, find a good solid ground and for god sake use star washers between the spade connection and the ground to ensure a good solid connection. I have seen many installs fail because of that little detail. A 10 g cable is probably good enough but to get it up to standards use an 8 g.

- They will ban you, but only if you try and go online with the sata disconnected, or disconnect it when you are online. Provided you haven't tampered with the drive and put it back properly BEFORE you go back online it should be fine. At least, it was fine for us. Disconnect the Ethernet cable while you carry this out to be on the safe side.

- Don't worry too much about what the cord says. Worry about the power requirements on the appliance label, and making sure you are feeding it with the voltage required, with a capacity within the range. In your instance, you will need a converter transformer that converts your outlet voltage to 100V, and has 550 or larger watt capacity.

- The only way to properly splice the cable is to solder the cable to another piece of cable the same size. The best insulator is brush on tape , just make sure whatever you choose to use, it is sufficiently wrapped. There should minimal power loss if care is taken to make the connection well. However, the best way would be to run a new cable. But considering the trouble this may pose, a quality spice may be the best choice.

- This is a standard item. Go to an electrical/electronic/computer shop with the old one.
- Q:I have a 2003 Honda Accord. I'm trying to put an amp and sub in it. My problem is, I'm not sure how to get the power cable from the batter to the inside of the car. I know it needs to go through the firewall, but I need to know exactly where. I couldn't find any unoccupied holes. I also need to know where the other side of the hole will be so that I can grab the wire from the other side. Pictures would be really great if you have them.
- The best place to run a wire through the firewall is through the firewall connector. Take the firewall connector apart, and look for an empty connection port. Take your power supply wire and hook it up to the engine compartment side, then take another wire (to lead to the radio), and hook it up top the corresponding port in the interior side of the connector. This will be the best way to make your connection. If you can't do this, then drill a hole in the firewall, install a grommet to protect the wires from the firewall. Again, the firewall connector will be your best bet, and people will be asking where did you take it to get it installed. This is how a professional would do it.
