Q:I am baking a cake in an aluminium disposable cake panI don't want the cake to burn and would like to know if I need to grease the pan first? Is it okay to use butter non-stick spray? then flour? Could I use baking parchment paper?
Hi , I bake for a living and would recommend that you use a heavy dose of Crisco or a good thick layer of a spray like PAM Use a paper towel and work the Crisco onto the bottom and sides of the pan, then flour it and cut a piece of waxed or parchment paper to fit into the bottomYou may need to use a slightly lower temperature for your cake for a disposable panKeep a close watch on it as it is bakingIf you want to see the method go to one of the links below.
Q:Do you think this pan is oven safe?
From what I can see it can be used in the ovenIt looks like it is all stainless steel to meLid looks like stainless steel and glass so that too can go in the oven However, I wouldn't put the lit in, just because I think it would be harder to clean when all the oils are baked on to it from splattering from the panI would use aluminum foil to cover it But to answer your question, if there is no plastic on the lid or pan, they can go into the ovenHappy Cooking

The best 1911 for the money I believe is the Taurus 1911It comes loaded with the stuff your supposed to buy to upgrade your 1911 allready! Like I have statted before in these forums, more $$$ doesn't mean betterIll tell you whyKimber used to make guns from American steel, raw metalToday, as we speak, Kimber now uses a powder that is compressed in molds untill it becomes, metal or metal likeThat is why, if you do enough research, you'll find most 1911 purist, refer to Kimber as MimberKimber, SW, and a few more are relying on past gloryThings are diffrent now adaysCars, house hold appliances, toys, and more were once made tough in America, now everything is plastic and alloy, and junkwhat makes the gun buisness any diffrent? If your not fighting crime and blowing a 1000 rounds a week, why dish the cash for something in a glass caseI own a Taurus PT111 and 145 both Pro models and Taurus 605, a 5 shot .357 magnum with combat gripsAll 3 are perfect! Dont buy into the hype, research, hold, and test fire everything u can 1st if thats possibleThats the best way to tell trullyI choose TaurusAnd i dont even get paid to prop them up! Taursu, throw me a bone, i love your guns! Mid lvl pricing for high quality fire arms
Q:I have 4 aluminum columns on the front porch of my home that are about 20 years old and an off white colorThe are just kind of dated and a couple spots have scratches and suchI wanted to know if there is a way to paint over the factory finish and what I need to do so.
Primers for metal fall into two categories, ferrous and non-ferrous90% of the time the metal getting painted is ferrous and the primer is red oxideAluminium is non-ferrous and needs a primer like called an etching primer, hammerite make one for priming aluminium before using hammerite, but you could follow on with any paint you wantIf your columns are not bare aluminium, but have the white factory paint finish then they do not need primingThe lightest of rub downs with a P120 or 180 grit paper (see how it goes) to key the surfaceAnd then use exterior oil-based paints as for woodwork- or if you want you could try car spray paints (or others)Upvc cleaners might bring up the current surface to an acceptable whiteness without painting.
Q:notice I said if I want to do it MYSELFPlease don't tell me what companies can do it for me!
Well, we could use some more information Is this just a one time thing? Or are you going into production? What kind of metal? What shape is the metal? (Is it flat sheets, or curved surfaces, etc?) Is the metal small enough to be handled, is it mounted on anything? And thenwhat are you going to do with the image ? Is this a pattern you want to transfer to the metal? or is the image itself the finished product (like a photo)? Ok, lets assume you want to transfer an image to metal for the purpose of doing something to the metal itself, like etching or scribing it.maybe even cutting it to create silhouhettes, etcLet's seethere is the common overhead projector, an arts/crafts projector (this type is placed OVER the original, and projects it up on a wall, or screen), etcTracing paper, copier, etcTrace the pattern you want onto tracing paper, or photocopy the pattern, and tape it to the metalYou can even use paper that has a sticky backing on it.a lot of wood carvers use this type of paper to transfer their images onto the wood blank, for exampleI asked about whether this was a one time deal, or productionI know you can purchase a printer that will put your image right onto the metal, just like a typical desk printer uses paperBut these are a bit expensive, heheheOhthere is always lamination tooprint the image onto some kind of stock (paper or transparencies), and then laminate it onto the metalIt would help, if we had more of an idea of what your intentions were here.remember, more details will result in better answers, heheheHave Fun
Q:okay i have a 3 foot pool and about 8 feet widei have been trying to heat it up all dayits not ice cold but i can only go in until my waist then its too coldits been outside in the sun for two days nowhow can i make my pool warmer? i already tried putting 10 big buckets of hot water and it didnt make too much of a differencemy mom says no more hot waterhelp! how can i make it hotter without my mom seeing me?
This is just an idea, but try using a bunch of aluminum foil and covering ur pool in sheetsThe foil may attract heat from the sun and act as a solar cover for your pool.
