Q:Need help with building a project involving solar panels?
Solar panels are designed to be used to recharge a battery or series of batteries, not for direct power. That is the inherent weakness of solar systems. The only way to have it work in low light conditions if to have several cells wired in series and have a voltage regulator to limit the amount of voltage that can be supplied. Other than that, add a battery and a charging circuit that the cell would supply power to.

This is my system: Solar Panelcharge controllerBatteryInverterLights. Keep positive to positive, negative to negative. The solar panel has a cable that has a polarised two pin disconnect (more or less takes care of itself), as does the harness that connects to the battery, a couple of extension cords, and the charge controller itself. The harness in its current install is fixed to the inverter DC in studs, which has a cable that is fixed to the battery. The harness also had a fuse holder and 0A fuse. Except the battery, panel, and lights themselves, all the works are in a mostly sealed box with only panel, battery, and AC cables leaving. The mains voltage lights (about 3x23W CFL) are connected to a power inlet, which is linked to the inverter power outlet with a short cord. The lights are controlled by turning the inverter on or off with its control switch. The inverter is a 400W cheapo, battery 36Ah AGM, panel 20W, controller basic 7A.

He has some niehbors that have air conditiong, but they use a gas / ammonia cycle for that. Caution, even with these systems they must be very careful with power usage, or they must run generators. They are located in the Sonoran desert where the sun shines just about every day so it is the very best of conditions. Based on this, I would say a system that would match the average household usage would cost around $80,000 or more, and would need a huge roof or large open area facing south. Probably not practicle, but possible.

I would recommend you orientate your building or shop to maximize the passive solar potential. this will drastically eliminate your excessive need for heating and cooling. Which in turn will maximize your solar energy from the panels. Also depending upon what state you live in do some further research into any programs or grants offered by the power companies or state incentives. Regarding hydrogen...for get about it.
Q:I have a 6v solar panel , but a 3v dc motor doesn't run with that!!!!?
It may well be that the motor demands more *current* than the panel can provide. Can you measure the voltage from the panel with the LEDs across it, and then with the motor across it? I suspect that you'll find that the motor makes the voltage collapse.
