Q: im looking to put a switch into the power cable for my amp so that it i can turn it on and off. what is the best way to do this? cheers
Why not just put the switch on the remote blue wire? After all tht is wht turns ur amp on.
Q: when you install a power cable you usually route it through the door seal and under the carpet. If there are existing speaker wires that go to your rear speakers, will the power cable create an interference?
I have my power wire and speaker wires touching each other under my carpet. no interference at all. I'll say that it may be possible, I have just never experienced it. So I would say that it won't interfere with your speaker wires. Actually I have my power wire, all speaker wires, and the Remote wire right next to each other. no problems at all.
Q: How to distinguish between high and low voltage power cables
The bottom edge of the bridge after bending (bottom bevel) and the width of the bridge can be the same length, but the range is controlled at 100-400mm, select the length of the two points, in the bridge side to help out on the side Two vertical lines, selected bridge bending direction as the cutting opening side; open the opening side as the bottom edge to draw the two vertical lines were used as two isosceles triangle in the sub-line, the waist triangle Edge length of the formula for the L = 2 × (bridge height × sin22
Q: I'm installing my car audio system in the morning. I have a 650w 4 channel amp for my four interior speakers and a class D monoblock amp for my sub.I have an 8awg wiring kit. If I split that to use it on both amps, it would end up at 16awg going to the amps. Is this thick enough for my setup?
1. We can't answer without knowing more about your amplifiers. 650w 4 channel doesn't tell us anything useful, because the power rating may be a peak number that's only good for marketing, and you didn't tell us anything about the monoblock amplifier at all. Give us brand and model numbers and we might be able to help. 2. If I split that to use it on both amps, it would end up at 16awg going to the amps ....no. That's now how it works. (I'm not sure how you envision splitting the wire to make two wires that are half the size; are you cutting it down the middle with a razor?) You can use a distribution block to connect both amplifiers to the same main power wire, but you don't have to go to a smaller wire out of the d-block: you can run 8-gauge wire from the battery to the distribution block, then more 8-gauge from the d-block to each amp. 3. Even if you did cut the 8-gauge wire in half, a wire half the size of 8-gauge isn't 16-gauge. It's 11-gauge. If you put six 16-gauge wires together, you'd get a wire that's a little smaller than 8-gauge. Please edit your question with the brand and model numbers of both amplifier, along with the estimated length of the wire run (ie, how many feet of wire do you need to go between the amps and the battery?) Then we can tell you what gauge wire you need. Edit: thanks for the update. Based on the information about your amplifiers, I don't think you should run both of them from the single 8-gauge wire. I'd switch to a 4-gauge dual amp kit, or you can buy a second 8-gauge kit and run each amp with its own power wire to the battery rather than sharing a single wire.
Q: Opened the inside. Next to fuse, it says 8A 125VPower cable says it is 7A 125Vdevice doesn't not work. Could this be the problem? Not sure if the power cable is the original.
No this is not the problem. Your equipment probably only draws a few amps, well below the rating on both the power cord and the fuse. Power cord and fuse rating do not have to match.
Q: I got two hard drives. The cable connecting the hard drive has 2 connectors, does it matter which connector goes to the master drive and which goes to the slave drive? same question regarding the power supply. 2 connectors on the power cable, the order matters?
Master HDD connects to the end of the ribbon cable. Slave drive connects to the mid-connector. It is best to connect master to the power connector closest to power supply (less wire resistance).
Q: I'm going to be running 1/0 gauge power wire in my car. My amp only accepts 4 gauge. Is it better to run 1 the whole way through and use power cable adaptors to fit the amp or run the 1 gauge into a distribution block that sizes the output wire down to a 4?
either way is fine unless your total system power will exceed 3000 watts....otherwise it would be cheaper and just as good to just run the 4 all the way from the battery and use the 1/0 gauge for your big three upgrade should you be exceeding 1000 watts
Q: i am hooking up my system tomorow and im really not sure where to drill a hole in the firewall to run my 4 AWG cable any suggestions any pictures would be helpful thanks!
Check first for any factory made holes that are not in use or have extra space to be used. If you are explorer is anything like my Taurus I would say somewhere near where your steering wheel connects to the firewall. But it will be kinda risky around that area since you would have to be careful for your power steering.
Q: My Xbox 360's power supply cord is very loosely connected. I've tried to push it with force, didn't go further. Games lag a bit (GTA IV, for example) at graphically expensive situations. Simplier games like Limbo and Worms run without any problems. I think my console suffers from voltage drop because cable isn't properly connected.Power cord looked like this already when I connected my console for the first time. Now my Xbox 360 S is only couple of days old. Please tell me what your consoles look like. Power supply's light is also orange. Not yellow, not red - orange.
It's not possible to drop voltage as you said. It's either connected, or it's not. The power won't wain. It just won't work at all if not properly inserted. But if the power cord won't seat properly in a brand new console, you're still under warranty. I'd get it replaced if I were you..
Q: Where can I buy a replacement power cable for my ps3? I can't find one anywhere.?
Unless you are using a laptop, you are a few feet away from one. Look behind your pc. There it is! That's right, the ps3 uses the exact same kind of power cable as desktop pc's. You might have an extra one laying around somewhere. My ps3 originally shipped with an ungrounded power cable, and I had to replace it with a pc cable. Use the grounded power cables pc's always have.
