Q: I am building my first computer and i was going to order a 750GB HDD to back up a 60GB SSD but it is a bare drive. Q: hey guys, i recently bought a new desktop computer however when i unpacked it and put it all together i discovered that i had not received a power cable for the tower. i discovered an old one in the mess that is my bottom drawer and was wandering does it matter what power cable is used for the tower? or are there different power cables for different PSU's?: They should all be the same (as well as for most displays and other larger peripherals )

Q: My power cable says it is plug in but will not charge it. What is wrong?: It could be your cable or power supply unit went bad. Or, your power socket on the main board went south. The good thing about laptops is that the power supply unit is external and easy to swap out.

Q: I bought a new amp and sub to replace my old ones. I disconnected the battery, unplugged the old amp and plugged the new one in and when I reconnected my battery the power cable began to smoke at all the exposed ends and got very hot. What causes this? Is it because the new amp requires more current than the old one and that is causing it to get very hot? And what is the solution to my problem?Thanks: you are creating a short circuit with the battery if this is happening while the amp is not on. disconnect all wires and make sure your positive lead goes to only positive terminal /amp input. then do the same for the ground. if you dont have a fuse protecting the wire it will get so hot it will melt the insulation and start a fire. if this is happening only when the amp is on and your system is pulling a large current through it (music real loud) then you need to upgrade your wires asap. make sure you have a fuse protecting the power wire close to the battery and a fuse whenever you downgrade in size of wire. a $1 fuse with the correct rating for the wire its protecting will safe your *** if you short circuit.

Q: HelloWhen i turn on my computer without 4 pin ATX +12 volt power cable my computer starts and everything goes fine but when i connect it to my motherboard my computer does not start.i want to know that is this cables necessary for normal computer operation or i can go without it??I am using ATX 20+4 pin main power cable for my motherboard power.: The 4-pin 12V ATX connector (yellow and black wires) supplies voltage to the Voltage Regulator MOSFETS that power the processor. If not connected, processor does not power up at all. If it is connected and PC does not start, power supply is sensing an overload/short on the VRM circuit, thus enabling PSU overload protection to protect PSU and motherboard as well. I am suspecting that either motherboard (at VRM portion) is grounded to PC case or the cooler is touching a circuit of the VRM. Try remounting motherboard and/or cooler.

Q: Does anyone know if this PSU comes with a power cord/cable? I can't find an answer for this.: Psus usually come with one, if not the cable is universal and is dirt cheap
