The reason for their use of the panels is that their government offsets the cost of installing them through subsidies. Other governments have similar programs.

Yes, they work but if it's real rainy they won't work as well. I don't know much about Solar Panels but I do have them in my home, and they work amazing! Many companies are regional, so it is hard to give a specific company name. The best thing to do is look in the phone book for solar contractors. You can buy any size system you want it to offset all or a portion of your bill, there may be rebates and you will be able to receive 30% tax credit if you do it this year. Make sure to get an estimate on how soon you will break even. You will also be able to get a more accurate quote if you know at least year usage history. You should be able to get that info from your electricity provider.

With your load, the largest system on the page I reference above would not power your entire house, if all the AC units are running. However, how often does that really happen? You need to look at your utility bill and find your actual amoutn of KW hours of electricity used in a year and you hav enot told us that. The base price of top system quoted here without incentives is over $70,000. As you can see, the lions share of incentives is the utility company followed by federal. I have no idea if your local utility company offers incentives or not. You would have to resolve that with them. However, the federal incentives are still there even if your state and local utility has none. However, the price to you goes way up without all of these incentives. And your idea of using windows to mount solar cells is totally impractical. Yes, I know there are web sites that advertize just that, but it is total BS. The first word of advice to anyone looking to do this sort of thing is to FIRST have a complete energy audit done and then do whatever they say to conserve as much energy as possible, thereby reducing your need for solar power. Hi, the solar powered-venting system is not air conditioning, it is simply a venting system to attempt to balance the interior temperature of the Prius with the outside temp when the interior of the Prius is at least 68 degrees. This is an optional system and is available as a stand-alone option for $800.00 or $3600.00 in conjunction with the navigation system. The solar roof is integrated into a full function sunroof, but the sunroof can be opened without using the solar venting portion. There is a separate portion of the system that will allow the driver to turn on the electric AC for three minutes, if there is enough stored charge in the nickel metal hydride (NiMH) hybrid battery. The AC is not linked to the lead acid battery, and is run by the NiMH only, not the gas engine. The NiMH and lead acid are two separate power systems. The solar panels do not power anything else in the Prius and do not boost the power to any of the systems. The solar venting does permit less energy from the NiMH to be utilized for AC at the next startup. For trivia, the EPA will not allow Toyota to install the solar venting system on Prius with the top package V (#5). The EPA feels the Prius is too top heavy with all the additional sensors required for the radar guided cruise control and all the other high tech components in the top end option package, just FYI.

you silly ! with Solar there is always room for error . you have to build it in to your numbers . solar is full of errors . So you should plan on producing at 3 times what you expect you will need . then you have enough .
