Brick is certainly the most durable if taken care of properly. My second choice is aluminum siding, which is far more durable than vinyl siding any day. Vinyl is simply more affordable, which is why most home have it these days - whoever decided that aluminum siding declasses a home, is full of malarky.

With the shinny side up the heat is reflected away from the contents. With the Dull side out the heat is greater inside the pouch.

I can't find a reference, but I think aluminum may react with CO2. Aluminum is produced by reacting aluminum oxide with carbon when electrical energy is injected, so I guess that the reaction may go backwards and produce energy
Q:Aluminum Siding?
They don't make aluminum siding anymore, thank god, they only make vinyl siding. It really depends on the brand you buy and the company that installs it. I used to be a tin man before becoming a professor and I can tell you that you should do a little research first. You want stuff that will hold up in wind, is easy to clean, has a nice look and colors won't fade. You want to be sure it is made of virgin vinyl, sounds weird but trust me, if it isn't it'll fade in a few years and look like crap. The company needs to know what they are doing too or the seams and lines will be terrible, so make sure your company is really in the siding business and not just some jack-leg contractor that says I can do it. You will end up with a crap job. Now I can't remember for certain and it has been a number of years, but 10 to 12 sounds good. I hope they are going to remove the old stuff, check your wood underneath and possibly put on a moisture barrier. I would ask what they plan on doing in detail. Good luck.

All aluminum can be bent if u have the right equipment. I have no idea what you are using it for, so I can't give you specific advice. But, go with the lightest gauge aluminum that fits your purpose. The higher the gauge number, the thinner the aluminum is. 16 gauge aluminum is 1/16 thick, for example, but 18 gauge is thinner. Also, the temper of the material affects how easy it is to bend. 6063 aluminum is more malleable (easier to bend) than 6061.

Figure out the Eknots using a chart. Cu -- Cu2+ = Enot of ? Al3+ --- Al = Enot of ? It needs to be positive to spontaneously react. I believe from memory that Al -- Al3+ is 1.3volts, so the reverse is negative. Meanwhile Cu is something under .5 volts, so it won't be enough to make the reaction work. This is further understood because aluminum requires a lot of energy to smelt from the oxide (which is the reverse reaction of Al3+ -- Al that you're talking about here) Secondly, do your homework man, it's REALLY obnoxious to add the why or why not and phrase everything exactly as your homework asks. Try to ask a question about the topic so you actually learn. For example, what are reduction potentials in terms of, for example, Cu --- Cu2+
