- Yes, you could have an ant colony in the sofa. The little buggers can set up shop pretty much anywhere. Some species of ants actually build their colonies in wood. In nature they prefer trees. Sometimes dead, sometimes not. But if your sofa has a wooden frame, they could decide that's good enough. If that really is where the ants are living, the best way to get rid of them is to get rid of the sofa.

- Ok yes, a scratching post will help. BUT you can do something now that will divert the cats attention elsewhere. You can spray something on the corners of furniture that the cat scratches at. I use either vinegar or a diluted spray bottle of liquid lysol. They hate that smell. Cats don't like foil either so you might come up with an idea for this... and Cat nip always helps direct attention to the more positive behaviors. A spray bottle of just water is not inhumane so I advise to use this as a behavior modification tool.

- Q:I have an off-white microfiber sofa, and the cushions are getting dirty. They unzip so I can machine wash them, but I don't know the settings, or if I need to use some kind of special gentle soap. Also, can I use the spray stain remover beforehand? - Since they can unzip, I would check with manufacture but here is a site for microfiber clothes. I use warm water for my sofa, but it doesn't unzip. I just wash it down like a table and let air dry. Good luck
