Q:Sea Floor Spreading?????
Because a series of magnetic reversals that are semmetrical either side of EACH mid oceanic ridge have been mapped out and clearly demonstrate the way the the oceans have spread through time. In the late 1950s, a series of oceanographic expeditions was commissioned to map the magnetic character of the ocean floor, with the expectation that the ocean floors would display largely uniform magnetic properties. Surprisingly, results showed that the basaltic sea floor has a striped magnetic pattern, and that the stripes run essentially parallel to the mid-ocean ridges. Moreover, the stripes on one side of a mid-ocean ridge are symmetrically matched to others of similar width and polarity on the opposite side. In 1963, two British geoscientists, Vine and Matthews (Box 1), proposed a hypothesis that elegantly explained how these magnetic reversal stripes formed by linking them to the new idea of sea-floor spreading. They suggested that as new oceanic crust forms by the solidification of basalt magma, it acquires a magnetisation in the same orientation as the prevailing global magnetic field. As sea-floor spreading continues, new oceanic crust is generated along the ridge axis. If the polarity of the magnetic field then reverses, any newly erupted basalt becomes magnetised in the opposite direction to that of the earlier crust and so records the opposite polarity. Since sea-floor spreading is a continuous process on a geological timescale, the process preserves rocks of alternating polarity across the ocean floor (Figure 7a). Reading outwards in one direction from the mid-ocean ridge gives a record of reversals over time, and this can be matched with the record read in the opposite direction.
Q:How do you properly mop a floor?
Add a SMALL amount of cleaner to a full bucket of hot water. Dip the mop into the bucket to wet it, squeeze out excess water, then mop a section of floor. Rinse the mop in the hot water, squeeze out excess water and mop another section of floor. Once you're done, you rinse the mop and go over the whole floor again with fresh water.
Q:what to used to gloss or wax a floor.?
you can get wax for concrete floors...Lowes, Home Depot...just ask them...you need a polisher (one of those rotary ones.)
Q:Why do Chinese hospitals only go up to 4 floors?
They don't only go up to only 4 floors. Maybe you're referring to how some(I'm not sure if all) hospitals in China don't have a forth floor. So the floors would be numbered: 1,2,3,5,6, etc. This is because the Chinese word for four四(sì) sounds similar to the word for death: 死(sǐ). So to a Chinese person, a family member or friend as a patient on the fourth floor would be like a patient on the death floor(it's considered unlucky)
Q:Guinea Pig cage flooring options?
The video is self explanatory. What yo can do is after your guinea pigs are totally potty trained to use the potty cloth you cut a piece of cloth the size to the litter box you want to use in their cage. once they are completely used to using it you cut the size of the cloth down and so on until they are simply using the litter box. Or of course you can simply just use a potty cloth and change it a couple times a day. What I like about that is when they are out of the cage on floor time they will still want to go on a potty cloth and not the floor, just make sure they know where it is, and for some silly reason you have to have one in each room.
Q:Flooring in Apartment?
Wood flooring is always nice and so is tiling. But with any hard floor comes cold floors. You can purchase an area rug to put down by your bed so in the morning your feet don't get cold when getting out of bed.
Q:traditional ground floor ?
Constructing is a big word it could mean foundation work for some, walls to another framing, masonry, finishes, decoration, painting, flooring, something that is learned over a lifetime or a paragraph in a textbook. The tradition could be Western, Eastern, Northern, Southern or any ethnic, geographical, or historical location or time on the globe. Even what is considered a ground floor is called the first floor in other parts of the world. So perhaps you could define your question a little more.
Q:asap...answer please!! building floor labeled 13???
Yes I have been in a building that has a thirteenth floor and it is actually numbered that way too!! But as noted below this is not to common..... but look at some of the other Countries that delete different numbers... pretty funny: American and Canadian buildings typically omit the thirteenth floor in their floor numbering because of common superstition surrounding this number.[citation needed] The floor numbering may either go straight from 12 to 14, or the floor may be given an alternative name such as Skyline. In some Asian countries, because the number four sounds like death in Chinese and related languages, it is sometimes skipped in hospital buildings, and some business buildings follow this convention as well.
Q:Why can't I get my floors clean?
It may be that they are porous and have absorbed a lot of dirt. It could also be that you aren't using enough rinse water and are just spreading dirty water around. Listen, if you can afford it, do yourself a favor and get a Hoover Floormate for your floors. It puts down soapy water and sucks it back up while it scrubs. I have all tile floors and have used one for years, they work great and the floors are not only clean but dry right away too. If you can't swing buying one right now, get old towels and dry the floors right after you mop ( kind of skate along with your feet on them ) and this will also take up a lot of the dirt that is being left behind.
Q:Buffing a laminate floor?
Are the scuff marks from shoes ? if they are you could rub these off with your foot just wear a proper pair of shoes and press your foot on the scuff then drag your foot backwards across the scuff if it is rubber this will then roll into little balls of rubber and you can just pick it up, if you really want to buff the floor then lightly buff it going left to right in a sweeping motion, don't overdo the action as you could get a ( what they call a sea side effect ) it makes wavy lines across the floor and when people walk over it it makes them feel seasick. so just make sure you do straight lines.
