- Q:Is there a way to test and see if it is the water pump that causes the car heater to blow hot air one time and then, next time it blows cold air? We flushed the heater core and did other tests, so we do not believe it is the heater core. We left the radiator cap off and ran the car (ford thunderbird..'94) for 20 minutes and watched the antifreeze level come up, but doesn't go down, not circulating. We cannot afford to go to another garage. None of them seem to know what to do anywyas and we keep paying people to fix the heater and it is not fixed. We have put two new thremostats in car, too, figuring that maybe the first one may have been faulty, but should we try that again?
- Remove the thermostat totally from the car and then start it with the radiator cap removed.Verify that there are no vacume controlled valves in the hoses or intake manifold.If the water isn`t moving in the radiator,the impellers are broke in the water pump most likely shaft is broken.Dumb question here(is the pump belt driven?On the front of the engine or internal pump?)

- A small centrifugal pump that has the flowrate designated by the condenser manufacturer. I assume it has a heat exchanger of some type to reject the heat to the air and that would need a designate flow. Anyway, look in any lab supply catalog or web site and they will have many small pumps. You do not need to carefully control the flowrate, so stay away from metering or peristaltic pumps. The pumps may even be made of plastic, that is fine for this application. In my lab, we would just run the water from the tap through the glass condenser and let it drain out to waste. It is wasteful of water, but it sure was much cheaper than buying a pump and heat exchanger.
- Q:I have a four cylinder ranger with manual transmission. The top pulley was making a squeaking sound the other day and stopping and going. The car stalled out so I had to give it gas for about a minute, and this has happened several more times in the past week. - A water pump for your truck costs $63 at Autozone. I can't imagine where you got those prices at. Take the belt off and turn all the pulleys by hand. You should be able to tell which one is bad. Water pumps don't have bearings. The shaft just rides in a bronze race.

- There are good parts and there are cheap parts. The two never mix. Go to an autoparts store like O'reilly or Autozone. They will have what you need. ****EDIT**** An auto parts store is your cheapest option. Your only other option would be to get a used water pump, but I would not suggest putting an almost 30 year old water pump back on your car.

- Stop the condensate pump is not required to condensate users, such as reducing water, mechanical seal water, shaft seal cooling water, deaerator, whether you need water. Stop circulating pump requires three: 1, exhaust steam temperature below 50. 2, there is no circulating water users. 3. No drain to condenser. If stop immediately stop circulating water and condensate pump, the consequences can be imagined.
- Q:water pump has small leak
- If its an automotive water pump, you need to have it replaced. Because of pump pressures and constant expanding/contracting there is no reliable way to seal the leak. Plus the leak will only get worse. Radiator additives basically clog leaks from the inside, like a bloodclot on a body. But the leak never actually heals and instead the stuff clogs other parts like the inside of the radiator or heater core.

- Not sure what you mean by housing. Nobody is going to have just the housing. The entire Water Pump is available from Autozone, from $22 - $63 depending on type and warranty. The severe duty and new pumps are special order/available to ship. The standard reman is available in store, at my local store at least. Same pump as the 5.2L and 5.9L V8's. Can't be that hard to find. This is assuming of course, you have the 3.9L?
