Q:I was offered a job in the same general posistion for a YOUNG company that has offered me 15.00 more a hour, lead position, training in a differnt brand of the same product I work on and, basicly the freedom to choose my own hours (avg. 40-55 hrs). Or do I stay where I am at were I have some stabability, lead position, unstable hours (avg. 40-65 hrs plus nights away from home/family), possabilities of advancment and, a since of loyalty to bosses. Note: I worked hard to get where I am at, however, my current knowledge is the bases for new job. WHAT DO I DO????????????

Get yourself a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. Write on the top of each side current job or possible job and then list the benefits and drawbacks about each position so you know exactly what you think of each. Take this information and speak with someone you trust who doesn't have a direct role in this decision - a parent, brother, sister, or friend. Your spouse/significant other should be consulted about this decision, but sometimes it also helps to speak with someone who isn't directly impacted by your decision. If money is the deciding factor, go with the new position. It also sounds as if you can make more money working less hours and have more time with your family. How are the benefits at each company? If the cost of health care is more at the new company versus the old one or is not as good of coverage you might consider staying if healthcare coverage is a major factor for you. Let's face it, in this day and age no job is stable and guaranteed, even if you own your own company.

Q:I have read Wikipedia as to why Diesel Fuel can cost so much so please don't send me any links. Just want your opinion or 1st hand knowledge. My understanding is that Diesel is supposed to be the lowest cost fuel to make. but it costs the most. Why???

Simple - supply and demand. The demand is high right now, from countries like China and India with growing economies. The supply is consequently lower, which drives up the price. No new refineries plus growing demand equals higher prices. You're seeing a similar trend in corn prices, ever since the ethanol boom started.

Q:I want to buy a GENMAX HY6500 GENERATOR FOR 220/240 VOLTS but is wondering if this generator is good. I saw one sold at $1,239 and on another site it was $299.00. I was adviced not to buy Wolf power because of poor customer ratings. I haven't seen any customer rating for GENMAX. I guess this is a Chinese company.The problem I am having in US is that I canot get a 50hz 220-240 volt generators. All I get is 60hz and I am told thy wouldn't work for Africa. Can anybody help?

There is very little equipment made for one frequency that won't work just fine on the other frequency, (50 vs 60 Hz). The only problem you would run into is where a synchronous motor needs to run at an exact speed, such as tape recorders. But almost everything made today will function just fine on either 50 or 60 Hz. Actually, a 60 Hz generator can be made to put out 50 Hz by re-adjusting the governor to run the motor a little slower. For instance, if it is a 2-pole generator operating at 3600 RPM, the motor could be adjusted to run at 3000 RPM. If the generator was 4 poles, designed to run at 1800 RPM, readjusting the governor to run at 1500 RPM would do the trick. The only problem you might encounter would be slightly lower voltage - 100/200 Volts - but the the automatic voltage regulator should handle that just fine by increasing the field voltage/current.

in cali, the stockton/sacremento area is just packed with semi sales and service centers. got a big CAT tractor place there too. and there are also the ports, big cargo ships have diesel motors too. starting wages depend on your exact skills and experience, and exactly who you end up working for. but i'd guessestimate about $18 to start with. 20 years later, $40+ per hour (in todays money) is quite possible.

Another large factor is the ability of electrical generator to drive the traction motors required to overcome the inertia of the enormous mass of the freight when the train is starting up. Efficiency is not simply the mechanical efficiency of the system, but the ability to maintain the system and adapt it to various tasks.

Q:I have a 1992 Toyota Tercel that sits in my yard. It ran at one time, but has been driven so little that it now no longer starts. Had this problem one time before and paid someone to fix it. They replace the fuel pump to get it started again. Other issues are lost title, back left tire seems locked, and busted windshield.I hate to just trash this car and wonder how difficult would it be to turn the motor into a backup power generator for my house? Is it feasible? Q:i could only find a weight on one website and it said around 8,000 lbs. This one is rusted out and were planning on taking it in for scrap normally we would cut it up and take it in but this thing is a monster im thinking about renting a flatbed if it is 8,000 it would be worth it. The cooling coil and somekind of box with all the controls has been removed but they probobly werent any more then 500 lbs

That weight should be very close minus loss to rust. I would call a scrapyard first to get an idea of what they are paying, especially because part of it is a diesel engine and there are guidelines with some yards how they will accept machinery, such as clear of any fluids. The copper or aluminum wires and generator cores will probably be most valuable parts and might be worth removing and forgetting the rest depending on what the scrap yard says about the engine and rusted steel shell is worth. It will be a hard move, even for a flatbed truck because the little winch will have to pull that generator which is super heavy and dead weight. Final thing to look into is whether there is any value in any part of it. This is a very popular size generator and is still produced today except with Cummins diesel engine, maybe someone has an older one with same engine and their block is cracked!?

Actually setup your own company is not necessary to have any professional qualification. I am not very sure is your this business needed? Most of the big hi-tech company director also not in their major study in U. Just go and do it as what you intend to do. Dont waste your time and wait here and there. I have all the space in the world in my game room to do this. Just wanting to know if the engine is on a slide track and it slides out (I have seen other coaches do this) or do i have to totally unmount the engine to get it out to where I can work on it? I know this is a stupid question and I don't know exactly how to word it. But any help regarding my question again would be greatly appreciated.any diesel mechanics out there? Is there a video posted somewhere on the web that may show a backyard mechanic doing this so it may enlighten me. lol
