A: Of course. But the pictures or samples of the products should be offered by your party.

- Q:I want to replace my wood flooring with porcelain wood like tile because i have a dog but my uncle who is a contractor said because of the house not sitting on concrete foundation ( meaning you can go under the house) i can only install vinyl or wood flooring again because tile is too heavy but um we have tile in the kitchen and restrooms and my other uncle who has a two story home has tile upstairs so i dont get it
- well your home must surely have some kind of foundation I put tile floors in wood framed homes all the time you just need to be sure to have a strong enough subfloor without deflection for a lasting job I prefer the joists have 3/4 tongue and groove plywood as the first layer the old 3/4 x 6 boards work fine if its not 3/4 plywood, just be sure to screw them tight to the joists then a layer of 1/2 BC grade plywood, the cheaper CDX grade will have unwanted voids then a 1/4 cement based tile backer mortared and nailed to the floor then tile on top of that set with mortar the new schluter ditra subfloor system claims it will be enough over just one layer of 3/4 plywood for any tile install but I have not used the product yet
- Q:Is it hard to fit tile around the toilet? Should I start there first?
- I answered 2 peel and stick tile Q's just today, I wouldn't use it or advise it, but obviously it sells. Cathy has the best first answer, take up the toilet. Without knowing what the old floor is, or the substrate and not knowing how long you plan to occupy the house, IF I was to do the job, I'd use contact cement on the existing floor and back olf the peel and stick. - Q:We are trying to sell our house so I‘m not interested in professionalism...just something that works and looks decent. We have a small full bathroom that has some tile coming off one of the walls. Looking at it, it seems the entire wall of tile is ready to come down. I need to fix this economically and I‘m assuming I need to do the entire wall. Any ideas how I should go about this? Are there large sheets of tile I can just stick up there? Do I need tile board (if that‘s even a real thing), etc...? Thanks all!
- If you have other problems like this in the house I wouldn't do a thing. just lower your asking price. Most of time if you have to ask a question like this you don't have the skill set to properly do the repair. A handy man may save you time and money or you can ask your Realtor for suggestions. If you want what the house is worth you will need to make the house ready to live in. New carpet, all the repairs done, clean appliances, With today's market you may have to make all the repairs yourself and lower the list price.

- Kaboom grout cleaner. Not tub and tile. There is to different ones. They both are very good. If you can find the Kaboom grout cleaner It will do all of it. Other wise use hot water and Just a cap full of the tub and tile cleaner from kaboom ,
- Q:My landlord recently had new bath/shower faucets installed, but didn‘t have matching tiles put in place of the ones that had to be removed in a small section. Do I have a legitimate case against my landlord? It‘s such an eyesore. Everytime I shower, I see the unmatching tiles and get so angry. Aren‘t I deserving of matching tiles?
- Actually, probably not. As long as the shower is covered with tile and not bare, it wouldn't be against any health issue. You could ask nicely, but I think since he didn't do it when the faucets were replaced, it isn't going to be done now. Some landlords are so stupid.....You are going to want to take better care of his property if he strives to keep in top condition. You have a bad attitude now I am sure not too eager to keep that shower clean. Am I right? Those kind of repairs are what makes a landlord into a slum landlord. EDIT: YES, you are deserving of matching tiles. Send him a note with your next rent check.
- Q:I just grouted the ceramic tiles I laid in my kitchen. The grout was supposed to be a dark maroon color, but it turned out a whitish powdery color (efflorescence). What is the main cause of this...it can't be water coming from underneath the tiles because the basement is underneath the kitchen floor...unless it came from the mortar under the kitchen tiles. How do I get rid of the efflorescence. Grout cleaner didn't work...should I use salfamic (spelling?) acid and scrub the grout lines? Can J just refloat new grout over the existing grout? HELP...I need to put my base cabinets in, but I can't stand looking at my floor the way it is.
- Was it a premixed grout? If you mixed it yourself you might have added too much water or took too long to spread it. Using too much water to clean the grout off could be the problem also. Grout also has a shelf life. You cannot grout over grout. You might find a grout stain to stain the grout the color you want. Don't use acid! Tiles can be cleaned with vinegar and water.
- Q:I‘m installing a kitchen back splash of 1 x 1 glass tile. Right now there is drywall where the tile will be. I‘ve read that it is better to use cement backing board as a substrate. Is this really necessary or can I just use thin-set to mount the tile directly to the drywall and then grout as usual? Thanks for your help!
- Hello Samsonite, I would have to disagree with using mastic. If you were using something that had a good absorption rate it's be different, but glass is so dense it'd take forever for the mastic to set up. Most manufacturers of glass tiles recommend using highly modified thinset (Customs Building Product's Megaflex at HD or TEC's Superflex at a tile supplier). I have found the Superflex to have the most brilliant white color when cured, providing the best background for your colors to shine. Drywall will be fine. You may want to key in the mortar you choose by flat troweling it on the drywall before combing your notches. This helps to ensure 100% coverage. - buy a foam backed carpet and then use a spray adhesive to stick the carpet edges down.
