- Good ol' WalMart has futons for about that price range. But a word of advice: If it is going to get frequent use, get a wooden one, not a metal one. I bought the metal one, and the base only lasted about a year because prolonged sitting and sleeping on it bent the rods under the mattress. It got so uncomfortable I had to toss it and got a twin bed instead. I put a board about 2 feet wide by 6 feet long inside one end of the futon mattress so it could become a backrest, then piled a bunch of throw pillows on it so I could use it as a sofa too. Just dump the throw pillows on the floor, and it's an instant bed.

- A futon will kill your back. You need a sofa bed that has the option to order a better mattress inside. Klaussner Furniture offers 5 different mattresses for inside their sofa beds. You will pay a little bit more, but you will have it for a long time, and the comfort and stability you are looking for is there. I suggest the air mattress or the memory foam. They are both awesome.

In case anyone doesn't know what SOFA status means it is the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA). I'm am wondering if there is anyone on this forum that has done it before? I have read in previous answers that you must live at Japanese addresses for five years. I'm not sure working for the US Goverment would count. I don't think he is going to marry a Japanese national as well. Can anyone that has done this chime in please? Thanks
- SOFA doesn't come into play here. If he wants to become a permanent Resident of Japan, he must follow Japanese immigration laws. SOFA bestows upon him American rights in a foreign Country. he would have to give up SOFA status to become a Permanent Resident of Japan.
- Q:I sold my sofa on a social networking site and got quite alot of interest. .someone came round to view it and was happy to leave a deposit..they came round again yesterday to help take it apart and we helped to deliver it and put it back together at their place, the money was exchanged and I left. - If you can remove the cushion covers and wash them in cold water, that is best. If you can't, a steam cleaning would be next best if they aren't feather. You can hire a carpet cleaning place and they can do it in your home or you can rent a steam cleaner and try it.
