Q:ok...all the wires in my quot;atticare encased in this silver metal casing....when i opened a bathroom wall...the wires were also like that.....at the fuse box...they all leave like that........sooooo, can i assume all my wires are encased like that? does that make them pretty safe from rodents chewing? (yup-been watching Billy the Exterminator) why were they done like that? tx for any info....
First when houses were electrically wired, they used what was called knob and tube. Next came BX,or flexible metal tubing which is what you have. Plastic wiring or Romex is the last and most commonly used type of wiring for homes. Don't mess with the flexible metal wiring. There are certain requirements when you cut and enter the metal into a metal outlet box. One of the most important things is a red fiber bushing called a cherry and I do not think they are available any more. I have some that I keep in my antiques closet. LOL
Q:14. Three parallel wires carry currents, with magnitudes and in the directions shown in the figure below. The wires all lie in a plane, and are all 2 m long, with separations between them as shown in the figure. What is the total force on wire #3 due to wire #1 and wire #2? Wire 1 : 6A, 2.5 m from Wire 3 ---------------------gt;Wire 2: 3A, 1.0 m from Wire 3 lt;--------------------Wire 3: 3A ---------------------gt;Can't figure it out, any hints/suggestions?
Once you find the direction you then need to find the magnitude of each B-field. You can do this using the equation: B=( μ x I)/(2 x π x r) where μ= 4π x 10^-7.With this you will be able to find each B-field. Once you have this information, you can then find the force exerted from each wire with the equation F=I x L(Length) x B. I'm sure there are other methods of solving, but this is the way I would go. Hope this helps.
Q:I am hooking up a subwoofer in my 01' civic and i cant figure out where the remote wire from the amp connects to in the back of my new headunit. Do i need a wiring harness? any help would be appreciated thanks
It'll more than likely be a blue wire with a white stripe coming off the back of the aftermarket deck.
Q:how do I wire the generator so it can spin 360 on the pole with out snapping the wires.... Thanks
You need some ring contacts and brushes that will be touching those rings that will be spinning while the generator does to complete a circuit without twisting wires. Make sure you get the right size rings and wire for the amount of current
Q:The wire I need only comes bare and I would like to try enameling it myself with polyester-imide or polyester-nylon, so that it comes out like magnet wire. What all would I need?
You can't use bare copper for coil windings. It would be like having a shorted coil. The varnish or enamel gives a coating thick enough to insulate from shorting and thin enough to allow for efficient induction. I don't see how you can make a winding without it touching itself at some point. Most coils overlap.
Q:Coming from my ceiling I have a black, a grey, 2 white, 2 bare and a red wire. Coming from my ceiling fan/light fixture is a green, black, black with a white stripe and a white wire. How exactly would I go about wiring this? It is a two switch setup without a remote.Thank you in advance.
Call the manufacturer about your ceiling fan. It may be designed to work with a light kit. I've done this myself. The grey and red sound like wiring that works with the light kit. The black, white, and green wires are hook to your house wire. (House wire is black, white, and bare (ground)).
Q:My house is currently wired using Cat-5 lines. If I were to replace the Cat-5 wiring with Cat-6 wiring, would I see an increase in my DSL speed?
Short answer is no. The reason is Cat-X is category then a number, the number meaning twists per inch. The twists help keep out crosstalk and interference. Rarely an issue in most households and even reasonably sized businesses.
Q:I bought this ceiling lamp, and there are 4 wires coming out of it. One white and one black (positive and negative), a bare copper wire for grounding, but there's also a yellow striped green wire. I was wondering what's the latter one for ?In my ceiling I have the black, white and bare copper wires.I'm Canadian by the way
Bare and Grn Yel. are both grounds . Just connect one or the other to the 'bare' in the box.
Q:Which internet is faster and quality?
Wired is faster and higher quality, but wireless is more convenient. The modem generally does not provide wireless connectivity. Most modems (cable or ADSL modem) provide a single Ethernet connection. To get a wireless setup, you need to connect a wireless router to the modem. The router should provide both wired and wireless connections.
Q:i have until November 24 to choose between a wire or plastic retainer for when i get my braces off.In your answer please say why you would choose a wire or plastic retainer.
I actually have a sparkling invisiline retainer and prefer it. I sparkling it two times an afternoon in pepsodent (using chilly water, no longer warm). I on no account consume with the retainer--I consistently do away with it as quickly as I consume--and when I consume, I brush my tooth and then brush/rinse the retainer. I do the pepsodent soakings two times an afternoon--morning and at night. I used Efferdent till now each and everything, yet that took too long--30-40 5 minutes. Pepsodent works in approximately 3 minutes. I save a broom with the Pepsodent and use it to scrub the answer out of the recesses of the retainer. that's in simple terms a habit now--in case you do this, your retainer will stay vivid and sparkling. No stinkiness. (And my orthodontist stated that Efferdent --no longer the blue-staining varieties--and Pepsodent artwork in simple terms besides as Retainer Brite. that's much less annoying to locate Pepsodent Efferedent besides. reliable success.
