Q:How long does it take cement to dry?
First of all it is concrete not cement and second of all it doesn't dry, it cures. It is a chemical reaction, it does not just simply dry out like mud brick. Given that, there are too many variables to take into account, thickness, environmental conditions, the exact formula of the concrete mix, etc.
Q:What is the meaning of 48 grade cement?
It indicates that the cement has a compressive strength of 48kg/cm^2. In India cements of grade 33, 43, 53 are available.
Q:What would the cost be for this much cement?
First of all, you want concrete, not cement. Second, two inches of concrete isn't thick enough, it will be cracking to pieces within a year. Better to make your forms out of 2x4s, giving you a 3 1/2 thick slab. Use wire mesh also. That being said, a two inch slab will take 4 cu yd of concrete. If you go the 3 1/2 route, you will need 6 1/2 cu yd. The cost will vary depending on source, location, delivery, etc. but roughly you can figure $100 / cu yd.
Use a product called Schlueter Ditra. Most tile installers should know about it. It is a special tile underlayment that is about 1/8 thick and stuck with thinset mortar to your floor be it cement or a wood subfloor. Should be able to purchase it from anyone that sells ceramic tile.
Q:Could you make Portland cement with one component only, excluding the gypsum?
Yes. I worked before in a cement plant (at Tinaan, Naga, Cebu, Philippines). I was a shift control chemist and we fed only one component to the raw grinding process which we deposited to the slurry basin and subsequently mixed it homogeneously at the right proportions before burning in the rotary kiln to produce the clinker. Then in the finish grinding operation, we added the gypsum to control the setting time of the finished product, the cement, at approximately the proportion of 97% clinker and 3% gypsum to produce Type 1 Portland Cement. We were blessed with a very good limestone quarry that approximated almost 75% of Calcium Carbonate to crush and grind and burn to clinker and then grind it to produce cement. So almost everyday, we had only a single component to produce the cement. However, we also had in our feeders aside from the limestone, the marl feeder, the silica feeder and the pyrite cinder feeder to fine tune the raw mix, and especially when we are to produce another type of cement. A good day to you.
Q:I have a crack in my basement's cement wall, the crack runs the entire length of the wall. how do I fix it?
Go to Lowes and check out the hydraulic cement, and see if this would work for you....you will have to find the source of the roots and get rid of the roots...since it is leaking, the hydraulic cement will get harder with moisture, you can do a web search and see if you think this product would work to solve your problem, Good Luck
Q:Whats the difference between concrete and cement? What is the difference?
Technically, cement is the major ingredient (along with sand, gravel, water and other possible additives) used to make concrete. So when you refer to the finished product, concrete is the proper term, though people often say cement to mean the same thing.
Q:Cement bird bath has sprung a leak?
try filling the holes with bathroom caulking.
Q:what is the difference between concrete and cement?
Cement, most commonly referred to a Portland cement is a component of concrete along with water, fine and course aggregates. Most people use the terms interchangeably, but they are two different things. Mortar, which is used to keep brick or block walls together is a mixture of cement, sand and water. The ingredients aren't just thrown together, there are specific formulas and the amount of water included in the mix is critical, too much water weakens the concrete, which hardens through a chemical reaction, rather than drying out as most people think.
Q:carpet padding on a cement floor whats good?
Cement floors absorb water from the earth below and if not done properly will result in a soaked carpet and padding (which effectively becomes a sponge). You need to waterproof the cement floor. There is a product that is skimmed/troweled onto the floor to waterproof it, but do not know the manufacturer or product name. (An alternative would be to put a vapor barrier down before the padding). You also need to use the right type of padding on concrete, or use adhesive to adhere your padding or else the carpet will need stretched again before too long. Also, the tack strip should be glued against the walls instead of nailed in, unlike on a wood floor where nails would be used. Tack strips with masonry nails ar OK (just don't use the nail ones for a wood sub-floor).
We have kept the development philosophy of technological innovation, covering production, R&D, sales and management. we are boosting the extension of industrial chain in an all-round way, give full play to science and technology, and aim to become stronger in biological industry and fine chemicals in 5-year time.
