Q:does fiberglass stick to cement?
Fiber glass will not stick to cement and also due to material properties they expand and contract at different rates. But saying that, i think ur idea might work. I think it would be simpler and probably cheaper to fill the whole a non shrinking mortar then painting the inside with an epoxy based paint. That would give you the best of both worlds
Q:how is cement powder turned into cement?
Cement hardens when mixed with water because of a complex chemical reaction that takes place. So the short answer is chemical reaction. Cement powder is mixed with aggregate, sand, and water ot make concrete. Roads, driveways, sidewalk, etc. are all made out of concrete. Cement is one of the ingredients in concrete. Cement is the ingredient that makes concrete get hard. You want the concrete to cure not dry. You must keep it moist for the curing (chemical reaction) to complete.
Q:What is cement used for?
Cement is used to make concrete! 1part cement to 3 parts sand 2 parts water is one form of concrete! Pebbles and lime can also be added! After everything is mixed it can be made into many things! House foundations, Walls, Piers, supports for bridges, roads, buildings! You name it! Cement is a valuable resource!
Q:How to make cement weights?
Empty milk jugs, fill with sand or dirt and screw the cap back on for dead weights. If you can afford cement, (about $5 per bag for ready mix, just add water) fill them with cement and stick a pipe in the jug necks and let harden. You might want to set the jug on a scale as you fill it, so you know exactly how much each end of the bar weighs. You don't want one end weighing more than the other end. By the way, doing push ups with your sisters sitting on your back can injure the back by slipping a disc and tearing the cushion between the disc. All of her weight is on a few vertebrae instead of being distributed evenly on your back. To make the push up harder, put your feet up on a step so your head is down. That way your arms are lifting more of your body weight.
Q:Is there a nontoxic rubber cement product?
Great question, and a considerate thought. Thank you for feeling so. Please take no offense at my response. I really have no experience lately, but recall my kids using glue sticks to achieve results in certain projects. Perhaps the more important question might be... WHAT are the needs for CONTACT or Rubber Cement?, and being that it's school, and projects are often so immediate,,, (not discounting some of us keep our kids stuff forever) Certainly the alternatives might be multiple? In fact... As a lifelong Student and Teacher I suggest that exploring the alternatives, might be part of the project,,,even leading into awareness (in a GREEN sense) related to substances that ARE toxic, and the WHY of why we shouldn't use them. Seems valid to me, even for extra credit?? Oddly enough, most school systems haven't made that choice strictly on their own. The EPA/FDA/ etc. have contributed. MSDS sheets are available from any manufacturer of the chemical makeup of any substance, and perhaps they too can be explored. I'm not at all suggesting you become Don Quixote though. Also the USE of or more... the ABUSE of, substances in school age youth, aren't strictly initiated with intent. The youth of today however, do have a greater sense of what substances might affect what situation or SENSE within their own bodies. I want to believe you're not old enough to recall school paste, and the fact that some students ingested it. Your major goal in this seems to me, to be one, of obtaining a list of APPROVED materials and substances,,, or at the very least; investigating those, on your own, as a CARING teacher, and perhaps submitting the list/ your list, to the school administration. IF for no other reason than to compare. Steven Wolf
Q:cement ratio?
A properly designed concrete mixture will possess the desired workability for the fresh concrete and the required durability and strength for the hardened concrete. Typically, a mix is about 10 to 15 percent cement, 60 to 75 percent aggregate and 15 to 20 percent water. Entrained air in many concrete mixes may also take up another 5 to 8 percent.
Q:Business license to increase the scope of business how to handle the cement
If you want to operate the cement, directly to the local industrial and commercial departments to change the registration on it, that is, in the scope of business to add a cement enamel to wear the cost of ferry to kill sales. No pre-approval is required.
Q:Would it be cheaper to build a walkway out of brick or cement?
If you use cement then you'll either have to have a electric cement mixer or a big wheel barrow. then you'll have to continously lift 50 pound bags of mix and rock into the mixer or if it's a wheel barrow then you'll have to mix it by hand with a shovel and use the correct amounts of water for it to cure correctly and not crack or cure at all. But first you'll have to level the ground by hand as I imagine you wont have a bobcat, then you'll have to build 70 foot long forms from 2X4's and reinforce them with rebar so it stays put. Then you'll have to by type 2 base to line the bare ground and rent a compactor to flaten it. Then if your backs not sore enough you start mixing the cement at an estimate of about 2 tons per cubic yard and do all that math depending on how wide and depth time 70 feet to get the estimate of how much your gonna be in debt for buying all this. So is that the easiest way?? HELL NO! thats why people use mixer trucks to pour side walks. Now if I were you i'd use what they call pavers. Those are the decorative flat bricks you see in secret gardens and what not. They come in all types of shapes and some places carry different colors. This will set you back about $.79 to $1.80 a piece and the average paver is about 12 inches LxW and 1 1/2D. These cover area without crushing the bank account. All you'll need is to level the ground of course, order the right amount base which is a sand and gravel mix and rent a compactor. Level, spread, compact and lay. Thats cheaper and easier as well as giving a custom touch to your project. Good luck dude.
Q:is contact cement acid or base?
When cement is dry it contains calcium oxide, which is not particularly dangerous. However, when water is added to cement, calcium hydroxide is formed, which is extremely alkaline with a pH of 12 to 13. Normal human skin has a pH of 5.5; therefore, wet cement can produce alkaline (caustic) skin burns which progress and get worse without more exposure.
Q:Cement balloon??????????
Yes, in fact it has been done, though it's a little more complicated than you describe. The problem is that wet cement is pretty soupy, and it's hard to get it to form a layer around the baloon. So you also need an outer form around the layer of cement. That could be made of cardboard and duct tape on a small scale, and cut away after the cement has hardened. You can pop the balloon and slip it out through the hole. The interior void will not be exactly spherical, of course.
