PVC coated wire is produce by quality galvanized iron wire or black wire. PVC is the most popular plastic for coating wires, as it is relatively low in cost, resilient, fire retardant and possesses good insulating properties.

Q:thats how my after market stereo is hooked up..i just got a system and was wondering if i join the remote wire to the accessory would it be ok? even if the accessory is already joined with the illumination
You need to first disconnect the accesory wire on the aftermarket radio from the illumination wire from the car harness if you are using hose connection to turn on the radio. You need to connect the accesory wire from the aftermarket radio to the accesory wire from the car radio harness, if you are using a wire harness then it would be the red wire and if the factory radio harness is cut then u'll need a test light to locate the accesory wire. On the aftermarket radio harness/plug locate the blue/white wire that's where u will need to connect the remote wire to, in order to turn your amp on and off. Don't connect the remote wire to the illumination wire from the car, or the radio harness.
Q:i have a 3mm diameter wire that has only a single thick conductor and it's really really hard?how do i know if it is a magnetic wire or not?are thick magnetic wires hard or soft to be wrapped?are there other types of wire that have a single conductor thick conductor?note: single thick conductorgt;gt; i mean they are not thin parallel collected wires like usual

Q:sence my stock head unit has no remote wire, when I hook the amp up, will it still drain the battery? I have everything connected, but the deck does not have no remote wire, and if it does I have no idea how to locate it. I am worried it will continue to run the amp when the car is off and drain the battery. Am I worried for nothing? If it will continue to drain the battery, how do I prevent this from happening?
use a test light ($5), you just need to connect the remote wire to a wire that is only hot when the car is on, (like the ignition power wire -not constant- going to the radio) and on factory radios it is usually a wire that is made to send the signal to the power antenna
Q:On a 1985 Dodge D-250 there are two wires coming off of the starter the thicker off the two goes two the starter the smaller one has been cut up by the battery. I was told the truck was running last week and all they were doing to start it was touching it to the positive post with the other wire but when I do this the starter just clicks. I pulled the starter and had it tested and was told its good and I have power to the cab I.e. lights and all so were does this wire go and what do I need to do to start this thing
the starter has two wires to it. one os from the battery positive and it is a decent sized cable. the other is a smaller wire that comes from the ignition switch really. that little wire is what you need.
Q:The application is a bathroom light and exhaust fan combination. The fixtures wires are thiner than the supply wires. Should I wrap the thinner wire around the thicker wire or should I wrap them equally around each other? Then can I put a drop of solder on before I put the wire nut. Or is solder not a good idea?
If you are using a good grade of wire nut ( The inside of the wire nut is metal) soldering isn't necessary....It won't hurt anything but not necessary....Thomas Betts makes a good wirenut
Q:How do I wire an outlet that has two black and to white wires. It this case the white being the HOT wires?? Don't know why all the white wires in my house are HOT.. And the black are nuetral???
Seen it before in residential, commercial and industrial apps. Why? Haven't a clue other than folks are just backwards that way. *L* I laugh now but it's usually not funny in the field. I've heard arguments between electric power and electronic folk over black v. red color codes but don't remember similar arguments over black v. white. Perhaps someone older than me can shed some light...
Q:I just bought an aftermarket cd player for my Grand Cherokee and I would rather not have to cut and strip wires so I want to get an wiring harness adapter. My question is, can I just get any wiring harness adapter or do I need the direct connection adapter that is specifically made for Chrysler to Kenwood?
Doug is spot on, but missing one thing that im going to add in real quick. The wiring harness makes things simper because it is color coordinated with the aftermarket wire radios. Some chrystler/dodge/jeep come with an existing amplifier that must be bypassed in order to have sound come through the speakers. Lucky this bypass is easy as connecting a wire. (quick note, buy only metra install kits- wiring harness and dash kit) On the wiring harness there will be a blue wire (not to get confused with the blue wire from the radio) coming off of it. This needs to be hooked up with the red wires, or the blue wire from the radio's wiring harness which is the amp remote wire. This bypasses the amp.
Q:I accidentally bought spark plug wires for a V6 2.7 liter engine and i own a 4 cyl 2.2 liter engine. are those wires interchangeable? i own a 95 Honda Accord
I doubt if they will fit right, your better off taking them back and getting the right wires.
Q:i want to install a new light in a old house.the problem is that there are three black wires coming out of he ceilng.the old light fixture has two black wires. two ceiling wires are connected to one fixture wire and the other ceiling wire i connected to he other fixture wire.i dont know which is the hot wire and which is the comon wire.also the new light has a ground wire ,2 blue wires and 2 white wires but, there is no ground wire coming out of the box. please help
Seems to me you are dealing with an old knob and tube wiring system, not complicated. You probable have three cotton coated wires in the ceiling box, they used to be coded and now they're tarnished. Two of the wires are common or neutral and one live being fed from the switch. When you removed the old fixture two wires were connected to one side of the light fixture these are the common wires and one wire was connected to the other side of the fixture this is the live wire from switch. If you can't remember which was which, simply get a tick tracer this device senses a live wire and with the power off verify that you have no live in the ceiling, with power on try again, if you find one power it's as I have said and the remaining wires are common, if not call an electrician they won't charge that much to hang a light fixture and you'll have peace of mind. Good luck.
Q:like can u use home power wire that is 4 gauge rather then getting the car power wire
Wire is wire but stranded wire is better than solid which is generally used in home wiring. The gauge of the wire is what is most important. The gauge of wire is determined by the amperage of the equipment. 16AWG - 10A 14AWG - 15A 12AWG - 20A 10AWG - 30A 8AWG - 55A 6AWG - 75A 4AWG - 95A 2AWG - 130A 0AWG - 170A
