Q:Tile grout efflorescence?
Was it a premixed grout? If you mixed it yourself you might have added too much water or took too long to spread it. Using too much water to clean the grout off could be the problem also. Grout also has a shelf life. You cannot grout over grout. You might find a grout stain to stain the grout the color you want. Don't use acid! Tiles can be cleaned with vinegar and water.
Q:How to introduce tiles
Fine stoneware water absorption greater than 3% less than or equal to 6% Stoneware brick water absorption greater than 6% less than or equal to 10% Pottery brick water absorption greater than 10% According to the use of points: outside the wall, the wall, floor tiles, square brick, industrial tiles and so on According to the molding points: dry pressure molding brick, extrusion molding brick, plastic molding brick Ingredients: oxidized tiles, reduced tiles According to glazed: glazed tiles, no glazed tiles According to the water absorption points: porcelain tiles, stoneware tiles, fine stoneware brick, stoneware brick, ceramic brick According to varieties: glazed tiles, quintana brick (homogeneous brick), polished tiles, tiles, porcelain glazed tiles (antique brick) According to the production process points: printing tiles, polished tiles, spot bricks, crystal tiles, no glazed tiles.
Q:Two tiles came off in the bathroom...?
stick the tiles back together and back on the wall it will be like a jigsaw puzzle-so cool!
Q:Does repainting kitchen tiles really work?
Ok yes you can paint them, and yes it will hold up, and yes i do paint and also install ceramic so i do know what im talking about. You need to clean them very good with TSP. Buy a good primer such as kilz but i think home depot has an even better one so check that out. After you prime it put oon a good interior enamal like Behr . Probable 2 coats for best results. A spong roller is best but if you can rent or borrowe a sprayer and get the best results. there about 40 dollars for the day to rent. easy to use. Just tape everything off and use alot of drop cloths.
Q:Can you use non gloss tiles for the shower stall?
You can use any tile for this.Just make sure to waterproof the walls before you stick them.
Q:Kitchen Backsplash Tiles?
Stone tiles and I recommend sealing twice before installing . should not need to be sealed again w/ the newer penetrating sealers. This make a great backsplash in looks and durability. I have several picts of some I ve done over the years if you need an idea of how it ll look. The grout sealed 72 hrs after grouting giving the stone actually 3 coats. Been at it for 20+ years and never a problem Any questions you can e mail me thru my avatar and check my qualifications there GL
Q:tile for home remold?
If its the honey or green onyx in the lower pictures, to answer your question, it is for wall application only, not durable enough for flooring. Expensive but can be used with other tile if you d like to make stripes and small designs. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
Q:What is the going rate for tile installation per square foot?
The best way to determine the reasonableness of a quote is to bid out the job. This means call at least three separate contractors and get quotes for the job. Make sure that they are bidding on comparable services, ask about their process, experience, lincense/insurance, and materials they will use. Not only will you gtet a good idea of the price, but you'll also be able to pick the most competent of the contractors. Your question does not have enough information to tell you whether or not your quote was within reason. There is a big difference between installing 12 x 12 tiles on a big flat floor and installing mosaic pieces on a vertical wall, for example. Glass and natural stone tiles are harder to work with. Smaller spaces are more time consuming per sq foot, etc. If materials are not included, your price seems a bit high for a basic install on a prepped, horizontal surface. But, like I said, depending on the details, the price could be very good.
Q:is vinyl roll and vinyl tile the same?
No it is two completely different things. Vinyl tile is solid vinyl all the way through. Sheet vinyl is a composite of a vinyl wear layer and a base substrate, and many times even having a cushioning layer, so it is a little easier on your feet, sort of a mini anti-fatigue mat. In much the same way as formica has a top wear layer, and a (usually) brown substrate. Vinyl tile is much more durable than sheet goods, you will almost never see sheet goods in a commercial environment, also when damaged, tiles are easier to repair. A tile will gouge or scratch, where as sheet vinyl will tear when heavy appliances are dragged over it. The sheet goods DO give you some cushioning, this is because of the composite backing.
Q:can I put 12 inch ceramic tile over 16 inch ceramic tiles?
never tile over tile even if it is level tear it up and put down the new stuff it wont cost anything but a few hrs at the most if you do it yourself you will need the same stuff for the new floor as you would if you tiled over it when you tile over tile it will only last about a year if your lucky to your second question yes it depends on whats making the squeak if the floor is not properly secured then the tile will start to come up over time however it could also just be that it is a new home and the home is just settling in they will move with temperiture changes witch just is the wood expanding and contracting. good luck and i hope this helped
