- Q:it sets fast, is there any gun, aparatus or equipment to easly apply epoxy tile grout.
- 1. Why epoxy?, it will take longer to apply, will be messy and won't give you the opportunity to allow it to go under bare spot of your tile. 2. I would take it back and get regular grout. 3. Sounds like your going for a good seal and the best way to do that is regular grout and a grout sealer. 4. If you still want to use it, tape around all tiles, wear rubber gloves (surgical tight fitting type) and have a bucket of water handy. Apply epoxy about half of what you need, wet finger and push into cracks, then add more and smooth with wet finger. The whole process should take about an hour for a 4x4 section when you can grout a whole room in a half hour with regular grout. One last thing to consider, if you ever crack a tile it will be next to impossible to replace just one without breaking others around it, but with regular grout it would be relatively easy.
- Q:When did the tiles begin?
- The use of tiles has a long history, it first appeared in the ancient Egyptian pyramid of the room, and a long time ago began to contact with the bath. In the Islamic state, the tiles are painted with flowers and plant patterns. In the medieval England, people will be different colors of geometric brick shop in the church and the monastery on the floor.
- Q:can you use marble tile for counter top
- marble is not recomended because the veins in marble can collect debris and be a breeding ground for bacteria which would not be good when preparing food
- Q:My husband and I bought a house where most of the rooms (kitchen, dining room, entertainment room, den, and laundry room) are all tiled with these Terra cotta like tiles. They are a southern type rusty red and stain easily. My husband loves the tiles and wants to keep them. He‘s concented on changing the color if I want though, as long as I keep the origional tile. I‘m trying to make the house look a bit more elegant/country (Blues, silvers, whites, golds, dark greens, etc. Elegant and formal but still bright and airy) While keeping the tile, is there any way to stain it another color and do some kind of glossy seal? What color might keep that feel? What kind of products work best?
- Painting the tile is a horrible idea, Your husband doesn't love the tile he loves the money hes not spending. Do it right or don't do it at all, if you paint the tile you will have created a real downer at the time of resale, that will have to be given an allowance to replace Carpet, area rugs or replace it
- Q:I have three ceramic tiles that need a special curved cut. I‘m just looking for some place where I can take the tiles in and they cut them for me onsite and I walk out with my cut tiles. Home Depot doesn‘t offer this service. Who does? I live in Atlanta.
- Two reasons why our store may not cut the tile for you. First, is the location that you're trying to get the tile cut, the same place where you purchased it? If not, then if there is a miscut, there would be no way to replace that tile. Secondly you mention that you want a curved cut, many wet saw setups are for straight cuts, which the retail establishment that I work at has. They usually charge only for straight cuts. Curved cuts are labor intensive and call for many small straight cuts. My recommendation, invest in a rotozip, or dremel and make the cut on your own.
- Q:hi friends.. we r constructing a new house.. many people say us lay tiles for floorins and many say to use marbles or granite?...so confused!!!!.. wat to do?quite big house situated quite beneath the hills.
- tiles much cheaper than marble/granite
- Q:I am looking to tile my livingroom/kitchen area appx 500sf. I am going with porcelain due to the strength ( i was told its better). My question is for resal (4-5 years) what is a better tile to lay; polished tile or regular glaze. I like the shiny clear coat look the polished has but someone mentioned it picks up footprints and it is not good for resale. Also, I was thinking that If I went with a larger tile, 18X18 or larger that it would look much cleaner with less grout lines, but since its only an area of 500sf that it would make my place look smaller than it is?any suggestions are helpful. Thanks
- A high sheen tile is going to give you a more formal look. A matte finish will be more casual. If you place the tiles on a 45 degree angle, the space will appear larger, but it will require more cuts and a little more tile. If you use 18 tiles and keep them squared with the room shape, the room will appear smaller. I am not a fan of big grout lines unless you are using Saltillo (Mexican) tiles. If you have the option of coloring the grout I would try to match the tile as closely as possible, unless you want to call attention to the grout.
- Q:i was pouring grout on my tile floor and it dryed too fast. how can i get rid of it?
- Sand it off. The upper layers should be fine but you'll have trouble the closer to the tile you get. You don't want to scratch that new tile. A quick tap from a chisel may release it from the tile surface but you runt the risk of cracking the tile. Good luck!
- Q:I applied sealer to Mexican tile and within a few hours, it rained. The finish on the tiles now is cloudy. Will this clear with time as everything dries or should I bake the tiles to burn off the water trapped in the sealer?
- Unfortunately the cloudiness will not likely go away. The problem is that there is moisture in the sealer and the top of the sealer is not smooth. You may be able to fix this by just polishing the tiles with some steel wool (not the kitchen kind, the 00 or 000 polishing kind). Basically, just use the steel wool like sandpaper and rub out the finish. Rubbing out your finish is something that most woodworkers do to get a smooth and clear finish on their work and it also works for any other type of finish. If the steel wool doesn't work then you will want to either sand off the finish or use a finish remover to get the finish out. If you bake the tiles to burn off the water then you will likely yellow the finish or, depending on the finishing product, burn and blacken the finish.
- Q:A roof tile falls off the roof of a house. An observer inside the house notices that the tile took 0.2 s to pass a 1.6 m window of the house. If the tile feel from rest, how far above the top of the window did it fall from? Give your answer in meters, recall that this is height above the window and has a positive sign, do not enter units.
- Average velocity of tile in falling past window = 1.6/0.2 = 8m/s This is the instantaneous velocity of the tile half way down the window in time. This means that the tile had a velocity of 8m/s 0.1 sec after it reached the top of the window. How long does it take a falling body to attain velocity of 8m/s, v = u +at 8 = 0 + 9.8t t= 8/9.8 t = 0.816sec 0.816 - 0.1 = 0.716 seconds Therefore it reached the top of the window in 0.716 seconds. How far must the tile fall to attain a velocity of 0.716 sec? s = ut + ?*a*t? s = 0 + ?*9.8*0.716? s = 2.5m The tile fell from height 2.5m above the top of the window.
