Either way green is ground, white is common, red is live and black is live. It is technically irrelevant which is which but black and red are one each for the fan and optional light. If black has a wire nut on it leave it that way it is for the optional light.

wire is wire. If it really is silver then theoretically it should conduct electrcitiy better than copper. But that doesn't really matter much. wire is wire. all it needs to be able to do is carry the electrical current. If wiring truly is your problem, then that will work fine.

your uncle obviously doesn't know what he's talking about. You can tell him I said that. If you want to get a lot of water to your garden, you use a bigger hose. If you want to get a lot of power to your amp, you use a bigger wire.

Did you splice this wire or simply trim it, strip the ends and plug it into the receiver speaker outputs and the terminals on a speaker? What are you powering these speakers and subwoofer with?
