Q:when turn the control to floor very little comes out,
ifthe air is good on defrost and vent but not on floor then you have a vacuum line off inside your dash...that is how it switches over....pull the unit and check the cables and lines....it is also possible that your switch is stripped and moving too far or not far enough.....when you hit the floor position, it reads floor but isnt all the way there.,....just a few adjustments should do it...
Q:in an home with a dirt floor basement.
you sure you need to replace them? If the basement isn't needed for anything you could get around the problem for a couple hundred dollars, just use adjustable columns going to beams made out of 2x6 lumber in the middle of the span that's sagging/bouncing. Make sure to put the columns on a base of some sort. pressure treated lumber would probably work. You wouldn't be supporting more than the weight of the floor so this is a pretty easy DIY project. (keep in mind I'm offering general advice, I don't know your reasons for wanting to replace) For replacing its all going to be labor cost. You will probably end up sistering new joists next to the existing ones unless there's some special reason they need to be removed. The total amount could be anything from $50 per joist to WAY more depending on how much electrical/plumbing/HVAC is in the way, how the home is constructed, how many joists, and what level of professional you need/find. I highly recommend taking pictures and reposting. let us know the problem and what you can spend and get some good ideas for different fixes
Q:how to start add a second floor
Buy a 2 story house and sell the house you have. Adding a second floor will cost you a ton of money.
Q:The laminate floor in the apartment im renting is starting to swell. Theres a few areas in the floor where its swelling up, its pretty noticible. Im afraid that if I tell my landlord about it, he'll make me pay to replace the floor.. It's very humid up here, the floor gets sticky alot of the time. Can that be the cause of the swelling? How do I fix it and prevent it from getting worse? Should I tell my landlord? Will I have to pay for it?Im alittle worried because I know it can be costly replacing or fixing the floor, what should I do?
You absolutely need to tell your landlord. Today! Most leases call for immediate notification of problems or damage. Not doing so would more likely cause your landlord to have a legitimate claim against you. The cause for the swelling is moisture. The source of the moisture is impossible to determine without being there. Humidity could have caused it, but it's not likely. More likely would be a leak somewhere that is traveling under the floor. Good luck.
Q:I use a clean and wax product and the floor does not get very clean. What can I use that is safe to clean the floor before I add the wax product?
Use a good floor cleaner if it is not a wood floor. Lysol is good. You may need to clean it on your hands and knees or use a mop several times. If it is waxed, remove the wax and forget about using it again. Wax causes build up and turns yellow.
Q:Insulation question - I live in an old (106 years) 3 storey house and I am about to replace the wooden flooring on the top floor - I have roof above this floor. The house is quite cold, more so than normal. Is it advisable to put mineral wool insulation between the floors? Are there any fire safety issues? Since, there are electrical cables for light fittings. Although, I was planning to leave a gap in insulation where light fittings are located. Please advise and many thanks in advance.
If you use rock wool, you should be fine. It will help keep the house warmer, keep the noise between the floors down and, as an added bonus, rock wool usually helps the fire rating.
Q:My mother is buying a new house and the floor in one of the upstairs bedrooms has a big dip. When two or more people stand in the center of the room the floor probably sags more than inch. The home inspector said that a sub floor would strengthen it considerably, but I'm not really sure that will totally fix the problem. What would be the best method to straighten the floor and stop the sagging? Would adding sister joists be worth it?
When I read bedroom upstairs, that tells me both the floor and the ceiling below are finished surface, so what ever has to be done is going to be messy, time consuming and $$$. If the defection increases with live load, tells me the joists are not adequate, additional layer of sub floor may help, but it would be my opinion it Will do more harm than good (hopefully this room is far larger than the rest of the upstairs rooms). To sister these joists, you will have to remove the ceiling below, and gain access to the top plates to the bearing walls. Chances are, there will be wires, plumbing, etc in then way so you have to deal with them. Further complications arise when you consider the center of the floor is now lower than outer edges so that has to be leveled one joist at a time and the sisters have to extend well back onto the top plates to do any good. Once you get the sisters in place they should be glued and screwed into place (including a bead of glue on the top to grab the sub floor and not squeak in the future) This is not a small job, good luck!
Q:and is it a good view from floor seats
$450-1,200 depending on where you're watching it from and what event it is. House shows are much cheaper.
Q:I'm looking for a floor that I believe has been discontinued. It is by a company named Sykes Flooring in Arkansas. They were sold to a company called Masonite, then to Bradley Lumber. It is a parquet floor, the style is called slate, it is 1/2".
You should check OKorder. They have so many different sitings in the flooring category. If you have a stock number that you can refer to it would be even better. If you can, go to your local Hardware Store. They may be able to locate the flooring or match your sample for you.
Q:is there any chemical/solution to remove acid stains from floors?please help me.
An fine tape residue remover is eucalyptus oil and most of the time does not impact painted surfaces. No longer certain how a lot field you have got to smooth. Are attempting a small patch first and if ok go for it additionally being a flooring field wash with a slight soap and water after as eucalyptus oil can depart a slippery residue.
