It was made obsolete, by the Me 262 and other jet engined fighters, But it's engine was the ultimate piston aircraft engine. Q:We have an oil steam system. There are Dole valves - 1A on each of the radiators. We bought new ones. They don't seem to be working. They look like a bullet shape with a screw in (on the side of the bullet) to the radiator. On the top of the bullet is a slit with numbers 1-10 on a dial. A picture we saw on the web showed a plastic piece of tubing in the screw part which looks like it goes into the radiator. If we remove the valve, the radiator gets hot with steam coming out of the hole. With the new valve on, the radiator barely gets warm. We're in Piscataway, NJ 08854. H-E-L-P.
Seems to me that a steam valve would need to hold a lot more pressure than a hot water valve. Steam is a high pressure gas and water is a liquid irregardless how hot it is (below boiling point) I am not a qualified plumber or boiler tech but personally I wouldn't use a steam valve for water or vise versa.

Q:I have a 2006 saturn vue that has a valve tap in the engine. The car has about 100k miles on it now. I'm the original owner of the car, and I've had the problem with the valve tap since about 50k miles, and even when taking it to saturn dealerships, I was told it was nothing and the car was fine. Now that I know what it is (I took it to another mechanic that was a friend who went over it with a 'fine tooth comb') I ahve done research and know what can go wrong a little too late :(So my question: My car only makes the tapping sound for about 5 or so minutes when i turn the car on, then it goes away and you can't hear it anymore, is this usual for a valve tap?

Once the valve guide is installed, it has to be reamed to fit the valve stem. After it has been reamed to fit the valve stem, the new valve needs to be seated in. (The valve seat should have already been done by this point) This can be done with a machine tool, or it can be ground in by hand with valve grinding compound. Once this is accomplished, the valve is removed, everything is cleaned thoroughly, and the valve is reinstalled with the spring and keeper. Normally you would do all the operations to all the valves at the same time. (That is, you don't grind in one valve, then go back and ream another valve stem. You do all the operations required at one time. So you would install all the valve guides, then ream them all, then grind or face the valve seats, then check the valve contact area, then remove all the valves, clean the head and valves up, and then reasemble into a completed head unit.)

You have to remove VVA. Its a general tune-up #1cyl at TDC adjust: Intake valve: 1, 2, 4 Exhaust valve: 1, 3, 5 Injectors: 6, 3, 5 #6cyl at TDC adjust: Intake valve: 6, 3, 5 Exhaust valve: 6, 2, 4 Injectors: 1, 2, 4 You gotta use a feeler gauge for the valves and a pin tool (looks like an alen wrench)...(I don't remember the specs, so you'll have to fine those yourself) For injectors your need a special tool (timing pin) to adjust the height (there is also a spec for that) You'll need a pin tool for the valves and injectors plus wrenches to tighten the nut after the adjustment. Valves: loosen up the nut, put the feeler gauge between the rocker arm and the valve, turn the alen wrench till the rocker arm reaches the feeler gauge...make sure the feeler gauge is kinda loose between them but tight...then tighten the nut (there is a torque spec) Injectors: loosen up the nut, set the timing pin on top of the injector, turn the ajustment screw w/ alen wrench till timing pin reaches a lil notch, then tighten the nut till it's tight (also need a torque spec) Afterwards you'll need to adjust VVA... I'm giving you somewhat of a general idea. If you are attempting to do this, you should get a manual.

And use the engine treatment called Sea Foam. Your throttle body is full of crud from the egr, it gums up the inside of the throttle body and will lead to gummed up egr valve which it has. Best to give a good clean out while you are at it. You can return your egr valve if you have the receipt. With all this info you should be good to go., Hope it helps.
