Slip resistance:
Boards of Techwoodn according to ASTM D2394-05. This is the best ranking for bare-foot slip resistance.
Weathering resistance:
Boards of Techwoodn have very low moisture uptake.This is key for mold and mildew resistance.

- If you have a nestbox up then this is fine. If you intend for the birds to lay eggs on the cage floor this most likely will not happen. If by chance it does happen (which is extremely rare) then they will not hatch.

- Q:The bathroom is about 6inches off from one end of the floor to the other. And that is a 4ft span. The tub is at the level end which is the lowest part of the floor. - wow really? 6 over 4'? that's a LOT! well there's a few things you can do the 1st and probably best starts below the floor. you'll need a jack post with screw assembly maybe 2 and a 2x4 or something that'll mount to the plate on top. floor unlevelness is usually caused by sinking (which usually is because something supportive was removed) if this is the case then go down below and crank it up like a spiral automotive jack the jack posts will move the floor up you then need to put a 4x4, beam spanning to support walls or a new support wall. jack it up till it's level measure and cut 4x4 or wall or w/e and put it in place. your favorite lumberyard should be able to help you out with beam rating if you decide to go that route. the other way to do this is really just a patch you'd need to get some plywood and patch in several layers in pieces till it's up to about where you need to be floor sand each time then cover with floor leveler compound before flooring back over it. again that's just a patch and if it sinks further then it'll need to be repaired again. this MIGHT be a pretty big task for a diy'er but if you want further instruction don't be afraid to ask someone at a small lumberyard. (not a box they're usually just college kids who don't know anything you can try but i wouldn't recommend it)

- Pac man is right. You should check from the underside if at all possible(crawlspace, basement, etc.) Otherwise the short answer is no. You will have to pull out the flooring and make a fix to the subfloor by adding a support and likely have to replace the section of subfloor anyway due to warping if it's been like that for any real length of time.
- Q:are their any reasons why people would make this their 1st choice say on a 3 floor apartment picking the 2nd floor?
- Well a three-floor building usually won't have an elevator, and a lot of people don't like the idea of walking up three flights of stairs, especially for things like moving furniture in and out and bringing up groceries. Apartments on the highest floor of any building also tend to be more exposed to temperature extremes, that is, they're hotter in summer and colder in winter. The advantage is that there's no one walking around above you so you don't have to worry about a lot of noise. First floor apartments are a greater security risk, especially when they're on the ground floor. There can also be less privacy if you have windows that are at street level. A lot of times you'll see that only the windows on the first floor of a building have bars, while the higher floors don't because they're less likely to be useful up there. Ground floor apartments are also more vulnerable to flooding. On the other hand, there may be no stairs to get to your apartment, and also you could install hardwood floors because there would be no neighbors downstairs to complain about your stomping. Second floor apartments offer the best of both worlds. You're more secure because it's not as easy to get to your apartment from the street, and there's more privacy for that reason. You're also not as affected by temperature extremes. The only real downside is that you could potentially be sandwiched between two noisy neighbors, below and above.

- Ceramic or vinyl floor? Both will make a huge difference on what needs to be done. But the first thing you can do for either one is to sweep the floor completely and wash it several times to get all the fine dust and dirt thats there. Either floor must be flat and smooth.
