Q:I've got a project to do involving me creating an advertisement for a useless product, and this came to mind. If you need more explanation I believe the vacuum was on a television infomercial at one time, and it looks like a small saucer. It will continue to move across your floor without any assistance and vacuums as it goes. I'm not sure if there were multiple versions of this thing, I'm just looking for one name or brand that has it.: the ROOMBA and many people love it especially old people

Q:I read some where that vacuum cleaners with a rotating brush can scratch hardwood floor. Is this true?: the rotating brush wont scratch the floor, as in gouges, but the finish that protects the wood will eventually dull because of the slight abrasion of the brush.

Q:Has anyone purchased one of these outrageously expensive vacuum cleaners? We have a yellow lab that sheds like crazy. We have a horrible time with vacuum cleaners. We have had Dysons and just had one die on us. Does anyone have any feedback on these vacuums?: we have a Miele Blue Moon. We also had a very hairy dog. But we bought it because of allergies. it picks up and keeps dust mite droppings which no other vacuum does. but you have to change the HEPA once a year for it to do that. The bags and hepa are rather costly but we have had it 9 years and it works great. The only other tip I'd give is keep the height setting one setting higher if you find it is overheating when you vacuum. we have shag carpet so it was overheating the powerhead set at 1. We love it and it definitely works better than the less expensive models.

Q:I have a Eureka Whirlwind (canister vacuum cleaner). I have probably had it for 4 years or so. Sometimes it quot;spitsout garbage from the canister. Should a vacuum cleaner last only 4 years? Or maybe the belt needs to be changed? Any ideas?: If it is tossing trash out from the canister, there is a filter inside which is broken and needs to be replaced. There is no reason why a vacuum cleaner cannot last for decades.

Q:Can you improve a vacuum cleaners suction (with tweeks) or filteration (by adding aditional filter)?: Well if you can you would probably be a pretty good engineer. I would keep any existing filters cleaned regularly and if you are using a bag They tend to have better air flow when first installed(empty). You didn't mention what type or for what purpose. If you are cleaning carpet you need agitation, air flow,and suction. Setting it too low would cut down on air flow. Too high would increase air flow but you would not get the suction down where you need it. You might get some better answers if you add details.
