Cpvc and PVC alike are very poor performing materiels when they get cold. 1hr of freezing temps can break PVC. Then once the ice thaws your flooded. With pex the pipe swells with the ice, then just returns to shape. Pex can be installed with no special tools if you use shark-bite fittings. Pex is the way to go for sure.
