- Q: What do you do to keep your floors clean? Both for carpets and hardwood floors.
- Taking your shoes off is about the best your going to do. The one thing I learned with hardwood floors is they seem to be impossible to keep clean. Obviously you aren't going to let them get disgusting. But Swiffering once a day and mopping a couple of times a week should be sufficient. Remember that you want to keep your baby in a clean but not sterile environment. There are many good bacteria that he will pick up and needs to. If he isn't exposed to bad bacteria, then he will not ever develop a strong immune system.
- Q: How to clean the composite wood floor?
- The ground dirty place with a dry wiping force wipe, if a long time wet rub, then the floor will be more and more luster, for your reference. First of all, to determine whether it is dirt, if it is, then use the washing spirit (the most easy to get, and more moderate) to wipe. Heavy dirt, but also with the scouring cloth. If it is not dirt, just shiny instability, you can use orange oil (from the orange peel in the oil, after purification. There are beauty and clean the surface of the wood effect). Composite floor, do not wax. Especially the numb, and can not wax. Once the wax is waxed, it will form a thick wax film on the surface of the floor, and it is even more difficult to clean up. In the love of the community above the maintenance of composite wood flooring method, LZ can go to recommend about, you will have some help.
- Q: Our common room tile floor has kind of a dirty/worn look to it (might be grout?), and it's not really being taken care of by mopping. we're looking for an industrial-type way to clean it. what is the difference between floor stripping and polishing (and the machines involved)? and what would be better for our purposes?THANKS!
- The process of stripping a floor is to remove all the build up wax that accumulates in time . Polishing is to shine the wax that you apply to it , you can polish with a floor polisher every day if you wish to take scuff marks off and dust at the same time . I have always used paste wax when I polished my floors and stripped them down with Varsol You can purchase a floor polisher that serves dual purpouse ,it comes with felt pads for polishing and scrubby pads for stripping. You can also rent a machine for this type of job Home Depot rents them out.
- Q: Prove that the floor(2x)=floor(x)+floor(x+1/2)i need the proof with cases.
- Suppose that we split up x into its integer part y and its decimal part z (for example, we can split 3.6 up into 3 and 0.6). Then, we have: x = y + z. Then: floor(2x) = floor(2y + 2z), floor(x) = floor(y + z), and floor(x + 1/2) = floor(y + z + 1/2). For 0 < z < 1, floor(y + z) = y for all integers y (y is defined to be an integer, so this is fine). As for floor(2y + 2z) and floor(y + z + 1/2), we need to take cases. Now, if 0 < z < 0.5, then 0 < 2z < 1 and 0 < z + 1/2 < 1 and so: 2y < 2y + 2z < 2y + 1 and y < y + z + 1/2 < y + 1, which implies that 2x is some number between 2y and 2y + 1 and that x + 1/2 is some number between y and y + 1, which implies: floor(2x) = x and floor(x + 1/2) = x, so floor(2x) = floor(x) + floor(x + 1/2) when x is some integer plus a decimal between 0 and 0.5. As for the case 0.5 < z < 1, 1 < 2z < 2 and 1 < z + 1/2 < 1.5, so: 2y + 1 < 2y + 2z < 2y + 2 and y + 1 < y + z + 1/2 < y + 1.5, yielding floor(2y + 2z) = 2y + 1, floor(y + z + 1/2) = y + 1, and floor(y + z) = y, and so: floor(2y + 2z) = floor(y + z + 1/2) + floor(y + z) == floor(2x) = floor(x) + floor(x + 1/2). Combining these two cases proves floor(2x) = floor(x) + floor(x + 1/2) when x is not an integer. To prove the case when x is an integer, notice that: floor(2x) = 2x, floor(x) = x, and floor(x + 1/2) = x, when x is an integer, which shows that floor(2x) = floor(x) + floor(x + 1/2) when x is an integer. Combining these three cases yields floor(2x) = floor(x) + floor(x + 1/2) for all x (as required). I hope this helps!
- Q: ok my living room is about 20x20i removed the carpet now it's just sub wood floori want to use cement + polyfiber or whatever you call it and sand and really fine crushed rocks as my floor, no wiremash reforcement, and in one big piece, no breaks in the middle or anywhere, do you think it'll work?will i get cracks because it's one piece instead of many smaller piece? will it crack because i'm cheaping out on not buying wiremash screen?
- there is a flooring product that is a 2 part epoxy and aquarium rock you mix the epoxy with the rock and you spread it out over your floor. you have to stay off the floor a minimum of 24 to 36 hours so the floor sets up and hardens. a lot of pool companies use is around the tops of pools, i've installed it a couple of times and it is awesome.
- Q: My little dog has some leg problems. His back legs are a little numb so he slips around on the tile we have. We are moving to a new home and are looking to put some flooring in. We would like to put anything but carpet. Would you reccomend wood or bamboo flooring? Are either of these better when it comes to slipping and sliding around? Thanks!
- Most flooring is fine . But i think it is the wax and in some cases if you use wood less slipping will occur but more scratches.
- Q: I am nearing completion of construction for my own new 2 story home. On the 2nd floor, I am planning to install a floating bamboo floor (5/8" stranded type) over gypcrete (lightweight concrete floor poured over radiant in-floor heat tubing. I think I can handle most everything, but I am not certain what the best option(s) is for running the floating floor into the staircase which goes down to the first floor. In the rest of the house, the edge of the floating floor will get covered by baseboard, but at the top step, there is no such option. Does anyone have suggestions as to the best way to deal with this? One more thing - it's tongue and groove and I was planning to glue the boards together. I already have the flooring and there are stairnosings I have with a groove on them which I was planning on assembling with the planks to cover the stairs too.
- Here is how you install a floating floor you have to start at the stairwell going down. When you have a interlocking stair nose that when locked to the floor will be the same height. If you had an overlapping step nose then you can start anywhere so that is your first thing to consider. Okay next you steps, glue them(or staple) down to each step. If you are also doing the risers you have to start with those before you do the step part of the step(remember nosing first then your planks. What are you using as an underlayment under the floating floor? This is important since you are creating a space between the subfloor and the bamboo you need a sound deadner. If you can get a product called quietwalk this is an excellent underlayment for your project.
- Q: When you replace carpet in a room because you want to install hardwood... do you need to replace the subflooring? Do you replace sub flooring every time you replace flooring?
- Subfloor okorder )
- Q: We never went trough them but got an assignment that involves it, I'm guessing point of this is to learn to research on your own. And I did but one of the questions is to prove floor(x)+floor(-x). I know it's always -1 unless x =N but how do I prove it?
- Remember x can describe as integer part y and decimal part .ddddd or y.dddd the floor of y.dddd and -y.dddddd so floor of (y.dddd) is y (the next smaller number ) the floor of (-y.ddddd) = -y - 1 (the next smaller number) so along as .dddd is not zero . for positive x , floor(y.ddddd) = y for negative x, floor(-y.dddd) = -y - 1 so floor(x) + floor(-x) = y + (-y -1) = -1 However , when x is a whole number you have y + (-y) = 0
- Q: want to build an apartment downstairs without noise coming thru floor
- If you could insulate the floorboards from the joists, that would cut a lot of noise. But since the floor is probably already in place, the best you can do is to put padding and carpet above, and insulation (fiberglass batt or other) above the downstairs apt. wallboard ceiling. You can also attach acoustic ceiling tile to the apt. ceiling. If any walls also are shared between upstairs and downstairs, you'll want to insulate those, too.
