- Q: Ok so i can have a problem i have two 5 watt 2 volt solar panels a 2 volt battery and a 400 watt ac 2 volt dc inverter i believe im only getting 5 watts from from my solar panels thats the equivalent of one is there any way i could get full voltage from my solar panels without theoretically burning my wallet.. please help
- I think you need to take some basic courses on electricity. Usually, 8 volt solar panels are required to charge 2 volt batteries. The voltages of photovoltaic cells are set by the material they are made of, only current changes. If you hook up a 2 V solar panel to a 2 V battery, no current will flow, nothing would get charged. You would need some elaborate DC to DC voltage converters to charge a 2 V battery from 2 V solar panels. Solar panels can be connected in parallel or in series, as you've made the mistake of buying 2 V solar panel, you would have to wire them in series and have a charge controller that could limit the voltage of the charge. Did it ever occur to you that two 5 watt solar panels would not be able to provide the power needed by a 400 watt inverter? You're just running off your battery with your set up. Solar power is expensive power, you can not have solar without burning a hole in your wallet.
- Q: Can solar panels be used in areas with high humidity?
- Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high humidity. However, high humidity levels can affect the overall efficiency of solar panels due to a decrease in their performance. The moisture in the air can cause a film of dirt or dust to accumulate on the panels, reducing their ability to absorb sunlight effectively. Regular cleaning and maintenance can help mitigate these effects and ensure optimal performance.
- Q: How much energy can a solar panel produce?
- The amount of energy a solar panel can produce depends on various factors such as its size, efficiency, location, weather conditions, and orientation. On average, a standard residential solar panel can produce anywhere from 250 to 400 watts of power. However, with advancements in technology, larger solar panels or those used in commercial installations can generate several kilowatts or even megawatts of electricity.
- Q: How do solar panels affect roof ventilation?
- Solar panels can have both positive and negative effects on roof ventilation. On one hand, solar panels can provide shade to the roof, reducing heat gain and potentially improving the overall ventilation of the roof space. On the other hand, solar panels can obstruct airflow and create a barrier that hinders natural ventilation. Proper installation and design considerations are crucial to ensure that solar panels do not negatively impact roof ventilation.
- Q: I recently bought a house with very old solar panels (about 25 years old) that don't appear to work properly. They are supposed to heat the hot water heater but they don't always work, and recently have staretd leaking. So, I have had them turned off and now we're just using electricity to heat the hot water. My question is, is there any tax credit money (stimulus or otherwise) available for people to (a) repair old solar panels or (b) replace them with new ones? How does the credit work?

- Q: I was thinking of having some installed on our rooftop and was wondering if it would be worth the cost? The house is located in Sac, Cali. The panels would face the sun 2 months out of the year and in the summer roughly 4 hours of straight sun.

- Q: Can solar panels be used for powering security systems?
- Yes, solar panels can be used to power security systems. Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity, providing a sustainable and reliable source of power for various applications, including security systems. By harnessing solar energy, security systems can operate efficiently and independently without relying on traditional electrical grids.
- Q: i am trying to get it to work on solar power They are outdoors and we dont feel like running a few hundred feet of power cables. Thanks and best answer will get 0 points.
- Research using solar panels on stock tank water pumps. Same concept - you use a solar panel to power a remote something or other, only you would have to use a battery charged by day to run the camera at night. It does not look like you would need too powerful of a solar panel, the camera server says it needs less than 5w, no idea on the cameras, so check that out, but the whole system looks rather low power. You could easily get the necessary panels, maybe the battery too, for... I would say $200 (not in one package, you would have to get separate things). Connection of everything would be simple, no electrician needed (but keep that to yourself, depending upon state rules and regs).
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on waste treatment plants?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on waste treatment plants. In fact, waste treatment plants provide ample space and suitable infrastructure for the installation of solar panels. This can help offset the electricity consumption of the plant and reduce its carbon footprint, making it a sustainable and environmentally friendly option. Additionally, solar panels can contribute to cost savings by generating clean energy on-site.
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a school or university campus?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a school or university campus. Many educational institutions are adopting solar energy as a sustainable and cost-effective solution for their energy needs. Installing solar panels not only reduces greenhouse gas emissions but also provides educational opportunities for students to learn about renewable energy. Additionally, it can save the institution money on electricity bills and potentially generate revenue through excess energy production.
