- Q: My son sprayed 50 SPF sunscreen on the front of our washer and dryer I have tried everything and nothing seems to take it off. It just leaves a haze on the clear plastic. Any suggestions?
- Try vinegar and water...It should do the trick.
- Q: Ok, I just moved in to my own apartment this past Spring, and it's an older duplex (with a lot of friggin windows-31 to be specific). So trying to keep the heat in this winter is a huge issue. I've heard of covering the windows with plastic to help, but I'm also looking at thermal shades (window quilts, etc.). My question would be which of these would keep more heat in? Or should I do both? (I would make my own if doing the quilts...so if anybody has any links to a really easy way to make them that would be very much appreciated as well! ) Money is tight, so I'm trying to avoid the problem to begin with..
- I've had the same problem before. This is what I would do....I would do the plastic (There is some that you can use a hair dryer on to tighten up so it looks better and doesn't blow around). Once that is done I would do the quilts/blankets to be a bit more insulating. You could just tack them up inside the window frame or if you have curtain rods is even better. If it is an older place it could look really cute with quilts. Good Luck. sorry I don't have any links right now but I will keep my eyes peeled for you.
- Q: What exactly is this clear plastic window called and can I replace it? If so, where would I find the part? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Do I need to replace the entire cluster panel?
- Have you called the parts department at your Ford dealer? When I worked at Ford in the 80s I believe you could order them as a separate part.
- Q: When is it ok to take the plastic off my windows for summer? (the weatherization plastic that you blow-dry tight in the fall) I want some fresh air in my house but am not sure if it's the right time yet. I live in upstate NY.
- When you know you'll be comfortable in the house without the plastic on the windows. Some people are comfortable when the weather gets into the 50's, some at other temperatures.
- Q: There have been news reports that broken glass is falling from condo apartments. They are coming from glass window installments. I want to know if condo buildings ever build their windows with plastic.
- In all the years I've worked as an agent, I have yet to see a condo that uses plastic windows. All windows I've seen are glass, even in 1970s condos. I have never heard news reports of broken glass falling from condos. If that happens, obviously an incident has taken place, but it's not a reflection on the material or the installation quality.
- Q: ...even when washing it? And I live in San Diego, not like in TX where the cling probably would bake into the window. But the windows are tinted, so it would have to be on the outside. The cling is about 6quot; in diameter.
- I would think it may stick, but it would probably fall off due to the bumpiness of driving, plus when you wash it, it will make it fall off. If your windows are tinted, I wouldn't even mess with it because it may cause a discoloration, but I am not positive. I hope this helps you some! Btw, I love window clings too! :)
- Q: a$$hole, right? and what are they officially called, so i can look them up?
- They okorder (this is a site I use all the time). It is almost just as cheap to replace the entire top, as buy new windows.
- Q: Is there a way to get the plastic windows on my convertible clear again without replacing.?
- Yes! There are actuall polishes made for these windows. I have also used Softscrub but only on real basket cases. Try some toothpaste and a soft rag on a small spot on your rear window. I have seen this done once before with pretty good results.
- Q: Should I insulate just my single pane windows or my new windows as well? Also should I put the plastic on the inside, outside or both? Thanks.
- Plastic on the inside. Putting it outside will subject it to wind and weather. It will be noisier and will not last all winter. If your new windows are double or triple pane, I would not do them. Look for places where drafts come in around windows, doors, fireplaces. Many of these can be sealed with caulk and are very efficient.
- Q: replace car door windows with plastic windows.how much and where.
- tap plastic.... can get what you need
