- Q: I'm about to move into an apartment room that I have been warned gets very cold in the winter (I live in MN). However, the person telling me this also mentioned that the windows had not been plastic wrapped the previous winter. In her opinion, however, plastic wrapping the windows would do no good because according to her quot;you can actually feel the cold coming up through the floor.quot; I think it's possible though that what she felt coming in through the floor was actually the drafts from the window sinking to the ground and spreading. - Plastic around windows, if done correctly will help keep most of the cold air from entering windows..one draw back is not being able to see clearly through plastic..

- Have you looked in home improvement stores for big, wide, heavy duty (thick) pieces of plastic? {usually comes off of a roll) It may be big enough, and being heavier, it will do a better job of preventing heat loss.
- Q: ...even when washing it? And I live in San Diego, not like in TX where the cling probably would bake into the window. But the windows are tinted, so it would have to be on the outside. The cling is about 6quot; in diameter.
- I would think it may stick, but it would probably fall off due to the bumpiness of driving, plus when you wash it, it will make it fall off. If your windows are tinted, I wouldn't even mess with it because it may cause a discoloration, but I am not positive. I hope this helps you some! Btw, I love window clings too! :)

- Q: So we just moved into an old home that is notorious for being difficult to keep warm in the winter. The previous tenants had plastic on the windows to keep the cold out. Well, its July here and keeping the cold out is no longer a concern. The plastic looks terrible and if its not serving a purpose, I'd like to take it down for the summer and fall season. So, is the plastic keeping the heat out right now? Does it serve a purpose?
- It serves the purpose of making your home a sauna, so remove it. Also if you like fresh circulated air from a cool clear night you're not going to get it leaving the plastic up. It literally takes less than 5 minutes per window to re-apply before winter and the kits only cost about 10-15 bucks with enough for 10 windows. Take it down already.

- It doesn't go on the windows. It goes on the window trim or on the wall. Any dirt or grit will cause it to fall down, and you have to really press to make sure it is on well.
