Q: My son threw a rock at our front door and it made a hole through the exterior metal. (The hole doesnt go through the door, just to the inside material.) I need to fill the hole and then paint the door. What is the best material to fill/patch the hole with and then how should I treat the door and paint it?
Go to Home Depot or Lowe's and get some Bondo putty. It's what is used on auto-body repairs. Or, just do like I did recently and use some powdered drywall mud (the kind you add water and mix). Make the mix using water that is about 1/4 wood glue. Smooth it on (sand lightly first) and then let it dry and sand it with fine sandpaper. Wipe it with a damp sponge, let it dry then paint. That's the cheap way and it will make the dent disappear.
Q: What tools are needed to install aluminum doors and windows?
Power tools certainly need ah
Q: How to maintain aluminum doors and windows?
Aluminum alloy, steel doors and windows of the maintenance, maintenance of aluminum doors and windows: 1 aluminum doors and windows in use, the action should be light, push and pull its natural; found difficult not hard pull hard push, should first rule out the fault. Fouling, deformation is the aluminum alloy doors and windows to introduce new difficulties in the main reason to keep the door frame clean, especially the sliding slot cleaning. Vacuum cleaner can be used to suck the tank and the door closed the fouling. 2 clean aluminum doors and windows, people do not step on the aluminum frame, and do not pull the box for support. 3 aluminum doors and windows can be used soft cloth stained with water or neutral detergent, do not use ordinary soap and detergent, but can not use decontamination powder, toilet and other strong acid detergent. 4 after the rainy days, should be wiped in time wet glass and window frames, with particular attention to wipe the chute water. Chute with a long time, increased friction, can add a little oil or coated with a layer of wax oil. 5 should always check the aluminum alloy frame connection parts, tighten the bolt in time to replace the damaged parts. Positioning pin, wind support, to spring and other aluminum doors and windows of the vulnerable parts, to always check, regularly add lubricants to keep clean and flexible. 6 sealed tops and glass plastic seal is to ensure that doors and windows sealed insulation of the key structure, if the fall to timely repair, replacement. 7 often check the aluminum alloy wall joints, the course of time if loose so easy to make the overall deformation of the frame, so that doors and windows can not be closed, sealed. So the connection of the screw loosening should be immediately tightened, such as screw feet loose, the application of epoxy strong glue to adjust a small amount of cement seal.
Q: I am trying to replace my bedroom doors that have a metal door frame. It doesnt look like it is screwed in. I am not sure how to go about this. Any help would be appreciated.
It usually has screws. If there is no piece on the inside that prys off, exposing screws from the frame into the wall, then there may be screws through a flange under the trim. You need to take the trim off anyway, so take it off and look. If there are no exposed screws, the wall covering (typically sheetrock) may be covering them, cut the sheetrock back a little, but not beyond what the trim covers. As long as you can see metal heading into the wall ,there is a point of attachment someplace under there. If you are not trying to salvage the frame, just get a sawzall and some good metal cutting blades and cut between the wall and the frame.
Q: I mean for double protection against leakage , will a wooden door or a metal one of the cabinet where this oven is placed cut off hazardous radiations.
there's a metallic mesh embedded interior the door alongside with the glass or plastic of the door. through fact the size of the holes interior the mesh is lots smaller than the wavelength of the microwaves, the microwaves won't be able to propagate interior the path of the mesh - it behaves to the microwaves merely as though it had no holes in in any respect. average the metallic on the in the microwave acts like a faraday cage - no microwaves (properly virtually...) leak out as that's behaves like a sealed metallic field.
Q: Aluminum doors and windows how to nail it?
The first hand drill hole, which is said to install the screws; only loaded nails, then the opposite side of the aluminum alloy with wood top, in the knock nails.
Q: I live in a rental with a white, metal front door. It has been subject to lots of abuse and it always looks dirty/hideous. Ive obviously cleaned it, but is there something I can do to cover it without taking the door off the hinges? I live in a somewhat dangerous neighborhood in Chicago and I wouldnt feel safe with my door off the hinge for even a few minutes. Would covering it in vinyl work?
Sure leave the metal door on. One way to make it look better is to get some mouldings from your hardware and glue and screw them on. Work out a pattern to start. If you purchase it paint it first before fixing to the door. Any fixing holes can be touched up when done. If you can't screw fix ask the sales people if they have a glue like contact or liquid nails.
Q: Aluminum alloy door with stainless steel door that is better?
Not much. Aluminum can be beautiful
Q: Aluminum alloy doors and windows what is called on the light
On the light is above the fixed window, the side is the side with a fixed window
Q: Our last home had a wooden garage door, so this is new territory for me. The paint on our metal garage door peeled off from the string of hurricanes we had a few years back (Im in east FL). Its now gotten to the point where every time it rains, a little bit more paint peels off. Ive been trying to do some research online, but Ive really only found bits and pieces of info that dont really help me. I was told that I dont need to prep the door because the paint will stick to the original door finish... but my door has exposed metal where there is no finish. What kind of prep work do I need to do? Does the door need to be stripped completely and sanded? How about primer and paint, what should I be looking for? HELP ME.
