Q:i want to go off grid with solar panels but i need to know how many vots and watts i need to power my house
Very simple. Look at your bills from the past year and calculate how much power you used and see what you need to cover that usage. How are we supposed to know how much power you use? Maybe you live in a bdrm trailer or a 6000 sg ft house with 20 kids. Oh and remember a few things. There is more to ' going off the grid ' than just solar panels. When the panels work depends a lot on your climate. They kind of suck on cloudy days or if you live in the artic with 6 months of darkness. Also , you need an area for the (not so cheap) storage batteries. Learn to live by cooking with gas or wood as hydro is limited , so is heat. How do you plan on heating your home /water/ refrigerators and freezers? Off the grid means a lot of compromise. Even the amount of time you can spend on the computer asking these questions. You may be limited to no more than hr per day. Off the grid also includes removing any electronic influence. No cell phones , tv (cable/sat) internet. Grow your own food and live off the land. The amount of solar panels you would need to maintain even a current lifestyle as most of us know it would probably require at least /2 acre and the cost would take at least 5-25 yrs to recover. You really need to spend more time into looking at what the cost versus return is. Like I said before. Look at what you use and see what it takes to get that from your panels. You will be shocked. Currently the panels are very good. But they cannot produce what the average home needs per day every day, they are support systems. Much like a fire place. Now they are nice to have and are very efficient. 50 yrs ago you used to toss in 2-3' logs about 6 around into the only heat source in your home. A fireplace. And it sucked more cold air into the house than the heat it produced. History has a way of repeating itself. This stuff was out almost a decade ago, they just didn`t have batteries then
Q:Can solar panels be used in areas with frequent power outages?
Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with frequent power outages. Solar panels generate electricity from sunlight, which means they can continue to produce power even during power outages. By installing battery storage systems, the excess energy generated during the daytime can be stored and used during periods of low sunlight or power outages. This allows solar panels to provide a reliable source of electricity in areas with frequent power outages.
Q:Can solar panels be used in areas with high levels of heatwaves?
Yes, solar panels can be used in areas with high levels of heatwaves. In fact, solar panels are designed to convert sunlight into electricity, and they perform better in areas with higher levels of sunlight and heat. However, it is important to consider the impact of excessive heat on the efficiency and lifespan of solar panels. Proper installation, maintenance, and cooling measures may be required to ensure optimal performance in areas with extreme heat conditions.
Q:Can someone tell me the average savings you get PER solar panel installed? I do not have the money to invest in a bunch of them at once, so I am forced to buy one at a time, when I have the money. So how much can I expect to save after I buy the first one?
No matter what or how you do it it is best to get off coal and nukes. So it cost a little bit of money you are buying 30 years of electric. How much will you spend adding in cost of living increases over the next 30 years? Solar really is pretty cheap if you take the time to do the long term math. If you use your cost at to days rates it does seem like a lot. But if you do the math like in real life with 3.5% compounded cost of living increases per year and 6.5% fuel increases per year. Well, you pay a lot more renting power. One other thing to think about and Al Gore keeps pointing it out is, Will your off spring be alive in 50 years from now if you don't buy the solar panel? Kind of like not going to the doctor because you can't afford the bill. Well I would rather owe a bill to a doctor that I will have trouble paying then not be alive at all to try. If you don't have the money to jump in and go full blown Green you should buy a starter system. You can get a system that can be expanded to 3000 watts (enough to power an energy efficient home). Would cost you about $8000 USD to get started and then you could add three solar modules at a time till you get it up to the 3000 watt max. And even have backup power. Or you could just buy a 000 watt system for about the same price and just add 3 of them over the years. There are many ways to get started. The deal is everyone needs to get started even if it is a small system. If all 50 million homes in the USA would install a small 000 watt system with 4 hours of sun light a day. We would provide (000 watts times 4 hours times 365 days times 50 million homes) 29,000,000,000,000 watts not from coal or nuke plants per year. I wonder if that would help?
Q:If my school was to purchase enough solar panels to run the school off only their power, how much might that cost? (I have a really small school, only 384 kids.)Just general prices of solar panels and how much electricity they yield would be fine too.
Go with Stephen's answer. It typically costs $20-40K for powering a home so I would go with $00K's. If that was a plan for your school, look into wind power. Your school would most likely have to place it outside of town but its all the same in the end.
Q:How are solar panels made?
Solar panels are made through a complex manufacturing process that involves several steps. It starts with the production of silicon wafers, which are sliced from silicon ingots. These wafers are then treated with various chemicals to create a semiconductor material. The next step involves creating a sandwich-like structure by placing a layer of phosphorus-doped silicon on top of a layer of boron-doped silicon. Metal contacts are added to both sides to collect the generated electricity. Finally, the solar cells are encapsulated in a protective layer and assembled into a panel, ready for installation and use.
Q:i really love the idea of solar and want to start out small, so i'm new to this.I plan on getting an 85w panel to charge my laptop. what other equipment is needed to accomplish this?would i need to get a battery or does the solar panel hook directly to the laptop. Does one end just lead to a conventional outlet similar to a wall outlet?could someone please give me a detailed explanation with options about this? i would greatly appreciate it.
humm..... .need HUGE solar panel (alot) 2. wires 3. aligato clips . put the panels on the roof 2. use the aligator clip to clip the wire from the panel to the bars of the pluger of the comp. charger 3.tada mark me best:)
Q:Hello, I am shopping for solar panels for my home and there are so many to choose from. My house uses 40 Kw of power a day. If you had to choose from the output power of a solar panel from below, which one would you choose and why would you choose it? 2 Volts 4 Amps 48Watts2 Volts 8.5 Amps 02Watts6 Volts 7 Amps 2Watts24 Volts 4.2 Amps 00.8Watts24 Volts 8 Amps 95Watts
the two may well be extra effective. while it particularly is cloudy and little solar (wintry climate) you have got a breeze. while it particularly is nonetheless and sunny, you have the solar. while the batteries are charged, extra potential from the windmill would nicely be shunted right into a resistance heater in a water tank, preheating important different and infants water, reducing that cost. draw back of windmills: there is a few noise. you do choose a tower of a few variety to get above treeline. it particularly is mechanical, so it particularly is going to choose periodic upkeep and would injury, or will placed on out, or be broken in a windstorm. Panels will final for some years, in simple terms would desire to be wiped sparkling of snow interior the wintry climate, and washed off, in case you reside in a dusty section. they are hard, however the glass would nicely be broken.
Q:Are there any government incentives or rebates for installing solar panels?
Yes, there are various government incentives and rebates available for installing solar panels. These incentives can include federal tax credits, state and local grants, and utility rebates. These programs aim to encourage the adoption of renewable energy sources and can significantly offset the upfront costs of installing solar panels. It is advisable to check with local authorities and utilities to determine the specific incentives and rebates available in a particular area.
Q:Can solar panels be installed on a community center or social gathering place?
Yes, solar panels can certainly be installed on a community center or social gathering place. In fact, these locations are ideal for solar panel installations as they often have large roofs or open spaces that receive ample sunlight. Installing solar panels on such facilities not only helps to reduce electricity costs but also promotes sustainability and environmental awareness within the community.
