- I'm not sure what a quad is... However, krylon does make a spray paint that can specifically be used on plastics. It's called plastic fusion. This product bonds better with plastic than regular sprays but it does depend on what kind of plastic the object is made out of. Some plastics do not react well with this paint and never seem to dry. It's best to do a small test area first. You may get a better result if the surface is really slick by roughing the plastic up a little with fine sandpaper (although they say on the can that you don't have to prep the surface). Don't use regular spray paint on anything plastic that you plan on using a lot, it will just scrape and or flake off. Even with the krylon plastic paint you may need to do occasional touch ups though it will be lots better than the regular paint. I've had to use spray sealers with it in the past as well to toughen up the coating but usually it is not necessary. I've had lots of experience with this product while creating props for theatre and have found it to be the best option for coating plastics. Good Luck!

- why do you think they're a problem? They're convenient, light weight, clean, and strong. 100 of them take up less space in a landfill than a milk carton/jug. They are NOT the problem in the oceans. The problem there is plastic fishnets that have been lost by fishing boats. The nets ARE a problem, since they float and continue to catch and trap anything that goes into them. Testing has found that reusuable environmentally friendly cloth bags, used as replacements for plastic bags, soon build up high levels of bacteria as they are reused, so they need to be washed frequently which requires lots of water and detergent. In addition, at a cost of up to $5 each, buying and storing enough of them at home to handle a single trip to the grocery store can get prohibitively expensive for poor families who may use up to 20 plastic bags each trip to market to haul their groceries home. As for a year that plastic bags became a problem....it was the year immediately after plastic was touted as the salvation of the trees chopped down to create paper bags for grocery stores. Never let an environmentalist tell you what to switch to. It'll never be good enough. Just like all the environmental lawsuits now showing up in courts to stop clean energy projects (dams, windmills, solar arrays, geothermal, etc). All they want is for everyone to die and leave the planet to the frickin animals, because surely everyone can see that humans are a blight on the planet and should never have evolved.

I see no reason it could not be recycled, though there could be problems with getting enough of it together to be economic. Polyethylene is made in such huge quantities that gathering enough of it to recycle is economically feasible.

Edit: plastic is made from oil Correct. oil is formed from fossilized plant and animal matter over millions of years. OK. A vegan should technically not wear leather or fur because it it derived from an animal. Correction: Vegans do not wear leather or fur because they are products of animal exploitation, and an increased demand for leather and fur would cause more animals to be exploited and killed. So A vegan should not be able with in their own moral code, to use plastics. Without your faulty third premise, this conclusion does not follow. No animals are exploited or killed to produce plastic. The oil used to make plastic already exists, and no exploitation was involved in its natural formation. As a final note, keep in mind that fossilized humans probably helped to form oil too, so using your logic, one who supports human rights should not use oil/plastic.
