- Q: On the colour/design (it's all leather). what colours (pillows, rugs) would you have to go with it.
- You could pick any color of the rainbow and it would look good with that Sofa. Right now my favorite colors are Kelly Green and Chocolate Brown combination.
- Q: The sofa is positioned on an angle against a corner wall, creating an empty triangle space behind it. The ceilings are high. I need to put something behind the couch so that it's not just dead/empty space. I have a sofa table behind it for now, but everything I put on the table seems too short against the high ceilings. I have thought about a tall plant. Can you think of anything else? Maybe something on the walls?
- I had exactly the same problem in our living room which has 2 story high walls. I too use a sofa table behind it with a plant perched on some books for height, a tall statue and a lamp. I also found hanging art on one wall of the corner and a ledge with some tall items placed on it creates a vignette and brings the ceiling down.
- Q: How far from a sofa should you place a coffee table?
- A lot depends on your living room layout, the people using it and how it's used. If you have a large living room with lots of seating, you'll probably want to position the coffee table closer to the center of the area so everyone in the room has easy acess. Same goes for if your using it mainly as a place door some decorations/magazines to sit on, especially if you have end tables right next to the couch to put drinks/the remote/other things you need easy access too. If you have a smaller space, want to put your feet up or actually need the coffee table for keeping frequently used things within reach, then you should put it close to the couch. About 8-24 is usually a good distance to keep everything nearby but it should be far enough away people aren't bumping their legs on it or it's creating too tight of a squeeze when they're trying to sit down.

- Good leather cleaners are available at both saddle shops and stores where there are a lot of shoe maintenance supplies (like a drugstore). It might be cheaper to find a saddle supply (My thinking is: saddles are bigger than shoes so the container amounts might be larger). Usually you start with a saddle soap or leather cleaner and work it in with clean rags and wipe off the excess, then you use some kind of conditioner like mink oil, which is also a paste that you work in and helps protect the leather from moisture, keeps it from getting brittle, and gives it a nice luster. If the cleaner doesn't take care of the stains you might try dye... carefully!... before you apply the mink oil. I saw in a magazine once that a guy dumpster dived two leather sofas. They were red when he got them and the leather was in poor condition, so he took extra fine steel wool and black Rit dye and worked the dye into the leather with the steel wool, wiped off the excess, and then put mink oil over that. The sofas were gorgeous! They looked like new, $5000 sofas! At least! But if you try this, i would explore more carefully and perhaps do a test spot with very diluted dye and some place on the sofa that won't show as much like the lower back. good luck!
- Q: My 7 week old puppy (saint bernad) was with me sitting on the couch and my oldder dog(shih tzu) and when the older dog jump he jump and I didn't have time to catch him and his head landed first and he started crying and even dog my shih tzu isn't very fond of him, he started checking on the puppy to see if he was ok. - Q: I have an old wing back style sofa that I'd like to re-upholster. I've tried slipcovers, but they never fit right and they slip and slide and just look messy. Is this something I could learn to do on my own, or is this too much of an undertaking for a beginner? I can sew, and have a sew. machine (a regular Kenmore, not a heavy duty). Any advice is welcome, thanks.
