Q: I have a playstation PSP charger that is 5v 2A, so it takes 0 watts.I have several small solar panels that put out watt a piece and are 4 volts, 250mAhow can I get my 0 watts to be 5v 2A instead of 4v 250mA? the voltages have to match up right?also, what's a 3-T regulator that controls voltage?
3-T is just one type of many devices designed to control voltage so you get the amount you desire with as little static as possible. Without you having an degree in engineering, I can't explain it to you any better. You will also need to produce true sine wave energy or you will burn out your PSP with the correct volts and amps. You need one to produce only 5 volts 2amps. Anything different will burn out yur PSP. Your problem is simple math. Watts = volts multiplied by amps. Amps = Watts divided by volts. So if your solar panels can produce /4 amp ( 250 mA) each, then you connect one to the other in a series until you get enough connected to make 2A. ( 8 panels { /4mA x 8 = 2A}) You now have a panel with 32Volts, 2Amps, 64 Watts. This is where the T-3 regulator comes in. If you buy one for 5 volts, it will allow only 5 volts 2 amps, to go to your PSP.
Q: For a computer technology project we are using solar panels and trying to see different methods that will increase the output of solar power from these panels. For now, we have got polymer stickers and mirrors. Are there any more methods, or information that increase the solar power? Please and thank you :)
I am a senior in highschool and one of my classmates is basically a genius by all means that I can tell. He has already been accepted yo UNC Chapel Hill. His admissions statement was on exactly this subject. I proof read it for him. Anyways the basic problem with solar energy is that we can only harness about 20- 35 pecent of the energy and even less of that is converted into energy that can acutally be used. His argument is that if somehow we could harness chloraphyll which is the chemical which plants use to harness the suns energy and incorporate it somehow into our solar panels. We could harness up to 95% of the suns energy!!! Id deffinately look into this.
Q: I have to get a lot of information on how solar panels are developed and distributed in America because I have to do two pages on this. Please help me get information in this I really need it!! Thankss...
The first link below is one of the best sites for recent news about solar panels. You should be able to find stories about solar panels under development today. A little bit of the history: Solar panels have been around for about 50 years now. They were first used to power spacecraft. Solar power for domestic use started to develop rapidly in the 970's during the first oil crisis, but as energy prices fell in the 980's solar development slowed. Most of the large solar panel makers were purchased by large oil companies who seemed not to be too interested in solar. In the late 990's as concerns about both Peak Oil and Global Warming grew there was renewed interest in solar power and a number of new companies were started to develop new kinds of solar panels. Many of these new companies have grown larger than the older solar companies still owned by big oil companies. Over the last 7 years or so growth in the solar market has been explosive with a compound growth rate of almost 40% per year. In 2005 the solar industry for the first time started to consume more silicon than all other electronic industries combined resulting in a world wide silicon shortage that is still with use. New silicon refineries are coming on line and the shortage is expected to diminish by 2008 or 2009. Check out the two links below. They will help you a lot.
Q: I don't have a regulator connected as they are a little expensive for a pensioner, If I join the panels into line to the battery bank from the roof should that be OK.?
I am pretty darn sure you need the regulator because all the advertising says that you must have one if you have more than one small solar panel. I think you can overcharge your batteries otherwise. Solar power is still not cost effective, so most people have solar power because they care about the environment more than they care about expenses. If you are poor, it is better to skip solar power, unless you are in an area where there isn't access to electricity. For example, we have a cabin without electricity. I am a strong environmentalist, too. Solar power is too expensive still, for low income people. It is better to focus on energy conservation, imo. such as change your roof to white, to save on A/C, as the head of the US energy dept. says (he is a nobel prize winning physicist). PS Dave might be right on that stuff, i don't know. but all the ads say you need a regulator if you are going to have more than one solar panel so I assumed this was due to risk of overcharging.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on restaurants or hotels?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on restaurants or hotels. In fact, many restaurants and hotels have been adopting solar energy as a sustainable and cost-effective solution to reduce their carbon footprint and electricity bills. Installing solar panels on rooftops or in parking lots can generate clean energy, helping these establishments become more environmentally friendly while also saving money on electricity expenses.
Q: Currently being sold today! I know SunPower corp. commercial panels are about 20%.
About 20-22 percent is about right for panels affordable by most consumers. Even then, you still only get enough power to light a couple of lights for $400-$500, and only works when the sun is shining.
Q: Are solar Panels worth it, Do they really quot;save moneyon electricity?
“Where you have good (sunlight) and access to financing and a combination of federal and state incentives, you have a number of markets around the country that are very vibrant, and it’s very cost-effective with financial paybacks in the order of five and 0 years,” said Robert Margolis, a senior energy analyst at National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
Q: Is there a small solar panel system that I can put in my bedroom window and charge my phone and run an alarm clock off of? Or one I can run a microwave off of?
Yeah they have them to charge phones but to use a microwave you would have to use one to charge a 2 volt battery with them from there an inverter . You could probably get a system like that for around $50 or so off OKorder . Don't get me wrong solar panels do cost allot but for what you want it for just to run a microwave isn't going to cost you all that much . Just go to OKorder and look for solar phone charger and get an idea of what you want . Thumb up for Sam above me . People just think everything is expensive because they put no effort in there shopping .
Q: China is building solar panels and have been for years. That is the most abundant energy in the world. My nieghbor has two panels on his roof and he actually sells energy back to the electric company. These panels cost about $30,000. each, because we don't produce them here on that level. If we did, that price would drop drastically. Other alternatives are also available. Drilling for oil will no change anything. Once you give the oil companie the go ahead, the will focus on that and the alternatives won't be developed any farther. We will be right back here in about 0 years. The price will not go down anyway. So why not switch half of our fuel to alternatives?
Well, for thirty grand I hope they're of better quality than most of the stuff coming out of there.....Meh, I've got an old Boy Scout manual and some Foxfire books. I'll just make some myself this weekend.
Q: Are solar panels expensive?
Solar panels can be expensive initially, but they are a long-term investment that can significantly reduce energy costs and provide a return on investment over time.
