Q:Hey. I'm order a new phone yesterday (the switch back from virgin mobile) and I was wondering if it really is worth 80 dollars. But for anyone who has it is it good?
well actually it is worth it because 80 for a qwerty phone its pretty cheap! all the other qwerty phones are very expensive specially if you buy it full invoice price! which is good about this cell is that is cheap and it does a lot of thingsyou made a good decision. the bad is that the camara is not as great.and the front display isn't great eitherbut you made a good decision.dont worry if you have any question just email mei have a sidekick slide by the way but am about to get this phone too because its cheap liike bulky phones and the messaging packed from virgin mobile its awesome! peace!!!!
Q:I want my documentaries to be playable on the technologies inside home. The television, the videos and others but they can not play the clips directly from my phone .On the converting software what file format do i say that i want my video clips to look like?
Hi Amuoro, and welcome to Y!A Camcorders: You've been asking about this same thing 5 times over the past month in various other Categories, but never have you said WHICH mobile phone model # you have. Different phones shoot video in different file formats (.3GP, .3GP2, .MP4, etc.). And you need to tell us what kind of computer you have. Editing transcoding (converting) video on a Mac is different than on a Windows PC. One important point, in your Question headline you say you want your phone videos to equal those of bigger camcorders. Most phones do not have the video quality to equal the quality of a bigger camcorder, but you can at least convert them to play normally on a television or YouTube / Netflix style media player. If you want to show or distribute your videos using DVD, then the final video format will be MPEG-2 (or you can use MPEG-4 encoding for Blu-ray HD). But this encoding step is usually handled by the DVD authoring software (Roxio, Nero, iDVD, etc.). For just online distribution viewing (YouTube, etc.), you have a wider choice of video formats for uploading. Since you are relatively new to Yahoo!Answers, you might not know that you can Update your Question using the Additional Details link on the Action Bar below your Question text. Just mouse-over the blue pencil icon Edit menu, and add the details about your phone and computer. This discussion will remain open for at least 4 days, for us to reply. hope this helps, --Dennis C.
Q:How does a mobile come to know that which operator is meant for it. What exactly happens and how a mobile phone attach to the network. How it is different if the mobile is in roaming area?
A cell phone network is made up of the cell phones themselves, base stations, and the mobile switching center (MSC) hardware which does call routing, etc. The base stations (cell towers) are always broadcasting out control signals that contain a System ID (SID) and how it expects cell phones to identify themselves. When you power up a cell phone, it hears this and registers with the nearest base station and your cell phone sends its Mobile ID Number. This Mobile ID Number is more than just your cell phone number, it also contains its own system ID (SID) number, and it also contains the ESN, Electronic Serial Number that identifies that specific phone. If the base station's SID and cell phone's SID match, then the phone is on its home network. If not, then you are roaming and connect to another provider's network, usually for additional charges. Your phone usually can hear multiple cell towers but connects to the one that has the best signal (signal to noise ratio). After your phone is registered, your cell phone number plus ESN are forwarded to the MSC, which sends this to a home location register or HLR. If it turns out you're not on your home provider's network, it goes to a VLR, Visiting Location Register. This way the cellular network always knows where you are, that is, which cell you're in (what cell tower) so calls can be router to/from your cell phone.
Q:can I use Skype to call mobile phone?
yes you can, next to contact where it says call phones. dial the phone number and it will call. it wont work if you are using the free version.
Q:I curently have a virgin mobile kyocera loft. Ive had it for 8 months i was wondering if i could upgrade my phone to a smartphone for lower than the original price.
Dude, virgin mobile's phones are already cheap enough and you want a lower price on it? Besides, virgin mobile's phones are usually have no contract since its a prepaid plan so there is no 2 year contract and without a 2 year contract, then no discount.
Q:If a aircraft forms a faraday cage (I'm thinking the pressurized comair types) then how would a mobile phone effect a external signal? Or does a comair form a faraday cage (im thinking now of everyone who immediately busts out their mobile as the flights lands,,,)??Essentially what avionics package does a mobile operating 800/900/1800/1900 (and whatever other common rf mobiles use) interfere with?
Jet Doc is correct, the cell phone restriction is an FCC regulation - cell phones are licensed for ground usage. Cell phones operate on line of site, and once airborne your phone can see and connect to hundreds of towers at once, not the 2 or 3 connections the network was designed for. The restriction dates back to to time when cell phones were not as common, and the network not as capable. The FCC considered removing the ban, but most of the public comment was in favor of continuing the ban. It turns out no one wants to be forced to listen to the stranger in the next seat run their yap . The current ban is more an enforced courtesy than a technical requirement. The FAA does ban all electronics during take off and landing, and cellphones have very limited service in cruise, as the altitude is typically greater than the range of the phone. Even if FCC ban is lifted, there would only be a limited time in the flight were they could be used
Q:I want to get a new mobile - can i get them without a Sim card and have my one in my current phone put in it so i have the same phone number and the same cash on my pay as you go
You can, or you can get one with a SIM already installed and get the mobile phone provider to transfer your old number to the new SIM. This process takes a few days. The main difference is that using your old SIM will mean that you are still using the same network. If a different network is offering the phone and/or calls etc more cheaply, take the second option with a new SIM on the new network, and your old number transfers to the new network.
Q:I accidentaly put my mobile phone in the washing machine? I've taken it apart and dried the water off and not too much water got inside the case. Please help! What do I do?
(1) Put your phone back together (2) Call your cell phone provider and tell them that your phone fell into someone's pool and you need to replace it That's about it. Or, you can go online and find a replacement phone - look for unlocked phones, buy one and put the SIM card into the new phone and you should be 100% fine - thats assuming you dont have Sprint or Verizon or MetroPCS. If you have one of those, then do steps 1 and 2 above.
Q:I can't stand any of the T-Mobile phones but I'm stuck using them. So does anyone know any unlocked phones that work well with T-Mobile?
you can use any gsm phone that is unlock so long as you are just making calls and texting. where your problem will be is with any functions that has to connect to the phones internet. t-mobile uses t-zone and it can only be accessed from a t-moble phone, so you want be able to use the internet, send or receive pic messages, multimedia messages, or download anything.
