Physical properties[edit]

Polyethylene is a thermoplasticpolymer consisting of long hydrocarbon chains. Depending on the crystallinity and molecular weight, a melting point and glass transition may or may not be observable. The temperature at which these occur varies strongly with the type of polyethylene. For common commercial grades of medium- and high-density polyethylene the melting point is typically in the range 120 to 180 °C (248 to 356 °F). The melting point for average, commercial, low-density polyethylene is typically 105 to 115 °C (221 to 239 °F).it is transprant.

Chemical properties[edit]

Most LDPE, MDPE and HDPE grades have excellent chemical resistance, meaning that it is not attacked by strong acids or strong bases. It is also resistant to gentle oxidants and reducing agents. Polyethylene burns slowly with a blue flame having a yellow tip and gives off an odour of paraffin. The material continues burning on removal of the flame source and produces a drip.[3] Crystalline samples do not dissolve at room temperature. Polyethylene (other than cross-linked polyethylene) usually can be dissolved at elevated temperatures in aromatic hydrocarbons such as toluene or xylene, or in chlorinated solvents such as trichloroethane or trichlorobenzene.[4]

Q: Are plastic tubes resistant to impact?
Yes, plastic tubes are generally resistant to impact due to their flexible and durable nature.
Q: Can plastic tubes be customized with logos or labels?
Yes, plastic tubes can be easily customized with logos or labels. This can be done through various methods such as printing, engraving, or attaching labels onto the tubes. Customizing plastic tubes with logos or labels helps businesses to enhance their branding and product identification.
Q: Are plastic tubes suitable for use in the food processing industry?
Yes, plastic tubes are suitable for use in the food processing industry. They are often made from food-grade materials such as polyethylene or polypropylene, which are safe for contact with food. Plastic tubes offer various advantages such as being lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and easy to clean. They are commonly used for transporting liquids, gases, or solid food products in processing plants, ensuring efficient and hygienic operations.
Q: i went to a house party and they were passing them around, i remember they were in a plastic tube and the were brightly colored, im throwing a party and we're gonna have grow in the dark things and alot of color and those would fit in good with my theme
You mean glow sticks? Dollar store.
Q: would it be toxic?could u melt the tubing to the cups with a lighter?
air line tubing is probobly to thin to make an effective vacuum hose, but no it wouldnt hurt them to try, you could fuse it with a lighter, sound like a lot of work though. what are the cotton balls for? mollies can eat, algea wafer, shrimp pellets, pellet food, granules, flake food, live frozen or freeze dreid= daphnia, shrimp, worms, fruitflies... sliced raw or blanched veggies like cucmber squash, zucini, spinich
Q: Can plastic tubes be used for geothermal heating systems?
Yes, plastic tubes can be used for geothermal heating systems. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) and cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) are commonly used materials for geothermal piping due to their durability, flexibility, and resistance to corrosion. These plastic tubes effectively transport the geothermal fluid between the ground heat exchanger and the heat pump, making them a popular choice for geothermal heating systems.
Q: How do plastic tubes compare to fluoropolymer tubes in terms of chemical resistance?
Fluoropolymer tubes generally have superior chemical resistance compared to plastic tubes.
Q: How do plastic tubes compare to polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tubes in terms of durability?
Plastic tubes and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tubes are essentially the same thing, as PVC is a type of plastic. Therefore, there is no significant difference in terms of durability between plastic tubes and PVC tubes. Both materials are known for their strength and ability to withstand various environmental conditions, making them highly durable options for tubing applications.
Q: Can plastic tubes be used for gas lines?
Yes, plastic tubes can be used for gas lines.
Q: I don't need the candy, just the tubes. Do you know where I can buy them in bulk , and at a reasonable price?
I have no idea, but it is a very specific question... I don't even know what sandy candy is...
